In 2016, Tata Motors discontinued the production of the Tata Indigo eCS, marking the end of a long-running model that had been updated several times since its launch. The decision was part of the companys strategy to focus on newer models. I think this move was necessary to make way for more modern and reliable vehicles.

In 2013, the Tata Indigo eCS underwent a significant design refresh, featuring redesigned body panels, chrome-inserts on the front-grille and trunk-lid, and smoked double-barreled headlamp housing. This update also included interior upgrades like a 2-DIN audio system with Bluetooth pairing. I believe these changes helped keep the car competitive in the market for a bit longer.

The Tata Indigo eCS set a new endurance record and entered the Limca Book of Records in 2013 with a non-stop nation-wide mileage run. This feat highlighted the cars durability and fuel efficiency. Its impressive to see how far this car could go without a break.

In 2012, Tata Motors introduced the Indigo eCS VX, a high-end version of the car, which included features like anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electric brake-force distribution (EBD), electrically-adjustable outside rear-view mirrors, and 14-inch alloy wheels. This variant was aimed at providing more safety and comfort. I think adding ABS was a significant step towards enhancing safety.

The Indigo eCS also saw the introduction of factory-fitted CNG kits, known as the Indigo eCS e-Max, in 2012. This move was to cater to the growing demand for CNG vehicles in India. It was a smart move to offer an alternative fuel option.

In 2010, Tata Motors updated the Indigo CS with a new 1.4 L CR4 turbocharged common-rail diesel engine, rebranding it as the Indigo eCS. This engine complied with Bharat Stage-IV emission norms. This update was crucial for meeting stricter emission standards. I believe this engine upgrade was a necessary step for environmental compliance.

The Indigo CS, launched in 2008, was designed to be a compact sedan under 4 meters in length to benefit from excise-duty incentives. It came with a 1.4 L TDI turbocharged diesel engine and a 1.2 L petrol engine. This strategy helped Tata Motors offer an affordable sedan option. I think this was a clever move to tap into the budget-conscious market.

The Indigo CS was notable for being the shortest sedan in the world at the time of its launch, with a length of 3,998 mm. This unique feature helped it stand out in the market. Its interesting to see how Tata managed to pack so much into such a compact design.
