About
The Mahindra Quanto Diesel C2 is a compact, seven-seater vehicle built on the same platform as the Mahindra Xylo but shrunk to fit within the four-meter length category to benefit from tax exemptions. It features a 1.5-liter, three-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque, paired with a manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The vehicle has a ground clearance of 180mm, which is decent for navigating Indian roads. While it excels in terms of power and low maintenance, it lacks in comfort, especially for the rear passengers, and has a bumpy ride on rough roads. The Quanto C2 is a tall, compact SUV that offers good visibility and a reasonably priced package, but its design and comfort limitations need careful consideration before making a purchase.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra Quanto Diesel C2, although discontinued, presents a mixed bag of features that could influence a buyers decision. On the positive side, it boasts a powerful 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque, which provides a commendable pickup and decent performance. The vehicles low maintenance costs and robust build are additional advantages. However, the Quanto falls short in terms of comfort and design. The rear seats are cramped, and the overall design can be seen as confusing, blending elements of an SUV, hatchback, and crossover without fully embracing any one category. The ride quality on rough Indian roads is also a significant concern. Despite these drawbacks, for a family of four to five members, it offers sufficient space and a comfortable driving experience from the front seats.
Price
The Mahindra Quanto Diesel C2, when it was available, was priced around 7 lakh ex-showroom. On-road prices would have varied depending on the state and local taxes, but you could expect to add another 1-1.5 lakh to the ex-showroom price, bringing the total to approximately 8.5-8.7 lakh. Given its discontinuation, any current pricing would be based on used car market rates, which can fluctuate widely. If youre considering purchasing a used Quanto C2, its crucial to negotiate based on the vehicles condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Thursday, 21 November 2024 05:12 AM
The Mahindra Quanto Diesel C2, although discontinued, was known for its 7-seater capacity and a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 100 bhp and 240 Nm of torque. It had a manual transmission and a rear-wheel drive system. The mileage was rated at 17.21 kmpl. I think this made it a practical choice for families and small groups.

Despite its discontinuation, the Mahindra Quanto C2 remains a notable vehicle for its unique design, which was based on the Xylo platform. It had a distinctive look with a higher roofline at the rear to accommodate the third row of seats. I think this design was innovative but may not have fully resonated with consumers.

User reviews of the Quanto C2 highlighted its strong pickup and low maintenance costs. However, there were also suggestions for improvements, such as reducing the vehicles weight to enhance its thrust-to-weight ratio. I believe these user insights are valuable for any future iterations.

Mahindra had planned to launch a facelift of the Quanto, which was to be called the Nuvosport. This update was expected to include a new front grille, changed air dam design, and the introduction of an automatic transmission, along with a potential petrol engine option. However, this never materialized for the Quanto C2. I believe this facelift could have given the Quanto a new lease on life.

Mahindra invested heavily in product expansion, including Rs 7,500 crore over three years, which was aimed at enhancing their automotive and tractor businesses. This investment could have potentially improved the Quantos features and market appeal. I think such investments are crucial for staying competitive.
Saturday, 29 September 2012 08:44 AM
The Mahindra Quanto C2 was priced around Rs. 7 lakh, making it an affordable option in the mini SUV segment. It came with basic features such as an air conditioner with heater, power and tilt steering, and a digital immobilizer. I think the pricing was competitive, but the lack of advanced features might have been a drawback.

One of the key reasons for the Quantos development was the tax exemption on sub-4 meter vehicles, which provided a significant cost advantage. The Quanto was designed to fit within this 4-meter limit to enjoy these tax benefits. I believe this strategy was clever but may not have fully addressed consumer needs.
Saturday, 29 September 2012 07:41 PM
The Quanto C2 had a ground clearance of 180mm, which was decent for its segment. However, some users felt that the seating comfort and adjustability could have been improved, similar to other vehicles like the Innova and Ertiga. I think addressing these comfort issues could have boosted its popularity.
Saturday, 29 September 2012 03:16 AM
The Quanto C2 came in six different color options, including Bronze Green, Getaway Mist Silver, Diamond White, Toreador Red, Molten Red, and Fiery Black. This variety gave buyers some flexibility in choosing a color that suited their taste. I believe color options can significantly influence a buyers decision.
Saturday, 29 September 2012 06:10 AM
The Quanto C2 had a boot space of 300 liters, which was reasonable for a vehicle of its size. It also featured basic safety features like ABS with EBD in the higher variants. I think these features were a good start, but more could have been done to enhance safety and comfort.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 01:03 AM
The Mahindra Quanto Diesel C2 offers a mileage of 17.21 kmpl, as per ARAI certification. In real-world conditions, users have reported mileage ranging from 15-16 kmpl, which is respectable for a diesel vehicle of its class. This mileage makes it a viable option for those concerned about running costs, especially for city driving and occasional long trips.
