Our take on this /// Verdict
The Hyundai Eon is a standout in its segment, offering a blend of quality, features, and fuel efficiency that sets it apart from its competitors. I find the build quality to be one of the best in its class, with interiors that feel premium and well-finished. The cars styling, though launched some years ago, still looks fresh and modern. However, the steering can be too light at high speeds, which may not instill confidence in all drivers. Despite this, the Eons high-speed stability is commendable, and it handles city traffic with ease. The addition of a drivers side airbag in the Sportz variant is a significant safety feature. Overall, the Eon is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable, feature-packed, and economical entry-level hatchback.
Price
The Hyundai Eon is priced competitively in the Indian market, starting from around Rs. 2.96 lakh for the base variant and going up to Rs. 4.71 lakh for the top variant, ex-showroom. On-road prices vary depending on the state and local taxes but generally range from Rs. 3.5 lakh to Rs. 5.5 lakh. Given its features, build quality, and performance, I believe the Eon offers good value for money. The price difference between variants is largely due to the addition of features such as air conditioning, central locking, and the touchscreen AVN system in higher variants. Overall, the Eon is a budget-friendly option that does not compromise on quality.

The Hyundai Eon has been officially discontinued in the Indian market. The last recorded pricing of the Hyundai Eon was between Rs 3.35 lakh and Rs 4.73 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). This move marks the end of an era for a car that was known for its good fuel economy and feature-packed interior. I think this is a significant loss for the entry-level car segment.

Hyundai had introduced a special edition of the Eon, known as the Eon Sports Edition, which came in four variants. This edition included a touchscreen AVN system and other cosmetic upgrades but no mechanical changes. It was a great way to give the Eon a fresh look without altering its performance. I believe such special editions can really boost sales.

Hyundai Motor India recalled 7,657 units of the Eon to fix faulty clutch and battery cables. This recall was part of the companys commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of their vehicles. Its good to see manufacturers taking proactive steps to address issues.

Hyundai was working on a facelift for the Eon, which was expected to be launched by the end of 2015. The facelift aimed to keep the Eon competitive in the market, especially against rivals like the Maruti Alto and Renault Kwid. I think a facelift would have been a great way to keep the Eon relevant.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 09:32 AM
The Hyundai Eon boasts impressive mileage figures, with ARAI-certified efficiencies ranging from 20.3 to 21.1 kmpl, depending on the engine variant. In real-world conditions, I have found that the Eon can deliver around 17 to 18 kmpl in combined city and highway driving. This makes it an economical choice for daily commuting and long trips alike, helping to keep running costs low.
