About
The Fiat 500 Abarth is a high-performance variant of the iconic Fiat 500, known for its compact size, agile handling, and retro styling. This car is powered by a turbocharged engine that delivers significant power relative to its size, making it a thrilling drive. The Abarth 500 features 20540 ZR17 Pirelli PZero Neros tires, which provide excellent grip and handling. It also comes with a Torque Transfer Control system that acts like an electronic limited slip differential, enhancing its cornering capabilities. The interior is adorned with sporty touches, including red-on-black stitching and a boost gauge, though the steering wheel can feel too big and artificial in Sport mode. Overall, the Fiat 500 Abarth is a car that combines historical charm with modern performance, making it a unique and exciting choice for driving enthusiasts.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Fiat 500, particularly in its sportier variants like the Abarth 500, is a vehicle that embodies a unique blend of style, performance, and nostalgia. While the standard Fiat 500 is known for its compact size and agile handling, the Abarth version takes it to a whole new level with its enhanced power and handling capabilities. The Abarth 500s turbocharged engine and advanced torque control system make it a joy to drive, especially on twisty roads. However, the steering can feel a bit artificial in Sport mode, which might be a minor drawback for some. Overall, if youre looking for a fun, spirited drive that stands out from the crowd, the Fiat 500 Abarth is an excellent choice, though it may not be the most practical option for everyday use.
Price
The Fiat 500, including its sportier variants, is not currently available in the Indian market, which makes pricing information specific to India unavailable. However, if we were to consider the possibility of its launch, the price would likely be competitive with other premium hatchbacks in the segment. For instance, the standard Fiat 500, if imported or locally assembled, could start around Rs. 20-25 lakh ex-showroom, with the Abarth variant potentially priced higher, around Rs. 30-35 lakh ex-showroom. On-road prices would include additional costs such as taxes, registration, and insurance, pushing the total to around Rs. 25-40 lakh for the Abarth version.

Fiat has announced that it will extend the production halt of the all-electric Fiat 500 until November 1 due to low demand. This decision comes as the European electric car market is described as being in deep trouble. Despite this, Fiat plans to invest over $110 million in the next two years, including the development of a gas-powered hybrid version of the 500. I think this move might help revitalize interest in the model, but its a tough market to crack.

Fiat has launched new models of the 500e, including the Inspired By Beauty and Inspired By Music editions. These unique variations celebrate Italian culture and add to the diversity of the 500e lineup. I believe these special editions can attract buyers looking for something distinctive.

The Fiat 500e has been launched in North America, marking a significant step in Fiats electrification strategy. The vehicle features a range of just 149 miles, which might not be competitive in the US market. However, Fiat has introduced various unique models, such as the Inspired By Los Angeles edition, to attract buyers. I believe the stylish design and Italian vibe could still appeal to some consumers.

The first all-electric Fiat 500e vehicles destined for the US have rolled off the production line at the Mirafiori Assembly Plant in Turin, Italy. The initial dealer allocation sold out in less than a week, indicating some level of interest in the market. However, sustaining this interest will be crucial.

The Fiat 500e has been named the 2024 Urban Green Car of the Year by Green Car Journal. This recognition highlights the vehicles efficiency, affordability, and zero-emission capabilities. Despite the accolades, the 500e still faces challenges in terms of range and market demand. I think this award is a positive step, but Fiat needs to address the range issue to compete effectively.

Fiat has partnered with iconic Italian brands like Armani, Bvlgari, and Kartell to create bespoke 500e vehicles that were auctioned during Art Basel Miami Beach 2023. This collaboration adds a touch of luxury and exclusivity to the 500e. I think such partnerships can help elevate the brands image.

Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 07:27 AM
When it comes to mileage, the electric version of the Fiat 500, the 500e, offers a range of approximately 186 miles on a single charge, according to WLTP standards. However, since the Abarth 500 is not an electric vehicle and is instead powered by a turbocharged petrol engine, its mileage would be significantly lower. You can expect around 10-15 kmpl in city driving and up to 18 kmpl on the highway, depending on driving conditions and style. This makes it less fuel-efficient compared to some of its competitors but still a viable option for those prioritizing performance over economy.
