DC Avanti Turbo

About
The DC Avanti Turbo is a two-seater, mid-engined sports car that marks a significant achievement in Indian automotive design and manufacturing. Powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine sourced from Renault, it produces 250 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. The car features a rear-wheel drive setup and can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmh in 6 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 200 kmh. The Avanti boasts a sleek, modern design with sharp lines and curves, although its interior, while comfortable, lacks the luxury and advanced features of more premium sports cars. It comes with essential safety features like ABS, EBD, and airbags, but misses out on some modern conveniences. The suspension is stiff but well-sorted, making it a joy to drive on the right roads. Overall, the DC Avanti Turbo is a unique offering that combines style, performance, and affordability, making it a compelling choice for Indian sports car enthusiasts.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The DC Avanti Turbo is a significant milestone in Indias automotive history, being the countrys first homegrown sports car. While it boasts a sleek and futuristic design that certainly turns heads, its overall package is a mixed bag. The cars performance is commendable, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 250 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 100 kmh in just 6 seconds. However, it falls short in terms of interior refinement and safety features, lacking the opulence and advanced safety options of its international counterparts. Despite its limitations, the Avantis unique design, decent performance, and affordable price make it an attractive option for enthusiasts looking for a sports car experience without the hefty price tag of imported models.
Price
The DC Avanti Turbo is priced competitively in the Indian market, with an ex-showroom price of around Rs 36.80 lakhs. When you factor in the on-road costs, including taxes and other charges, the price can go up to around Rs 40-42 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Avanti one of the most affordable sports cars available in India, offering a unique blend of style and performance at a fraction of the cost of imported sports cars. However, its important to consider that the cars value proposition is heavily influenced by its limited brand recognition and the lack of extensive dealership networks, which might affect resale value and service accessibility.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 09 April 2023 12:13 AM Despite its promising start, the DC Avanti faced challenges due to limited brand recognition, restricted dealership networks, and inadequate marketing efforts. These factors hindered its ability to gain significant market traction. I think better marketing could have made a big difference.
Saturday, 08 April 2023 11:26 AM The interior of the DC Avanti is designed with leather accents on the doors, dashboard, and seats, along with a basic instrument cluster and power-assisted steering. While it looks sleek, some critics felt it lacked the premium feel expected in a sports car. I believe the interior could have been more luxurious.
Thursday, 31 December 2020 11:01 PM DC Design founder, Dilip Chhabria, was arrested in a cheating and forgery case, casting a shadow over the DC Avantis reputation. This development has raised concerns about the future of the company and its products. I believe this could significantly impact the trust buyers have in the brand.
Friday, 02 February 2018 08:13 PM The DC Avanti features a steel space frame chassis with carbon composite body panels, making it both strong and relatively lightweight at 1,580 kg. This design choice was aimed at handling Indias rough road conditions. I believe this was a smart move given the road conditions in India.
Monday, 18 April 2016 11:55 PM The DC Avanti is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, producing 250 horsepower and 340 Nm of torque. This engine, sourced from Renault, is mated to a six-speed manual transmission. I believe the engine choice was practical but lacked the punch of a more powerful option.
Monday, 18 April 2016 09:16 AM The DC Avanti was available in several color options, including red, white, silver, blue, orange, grey, and yellow, with distinctive black stripes. The bi-xenon headlamps and LED DRLs added to its aggressive and futuristic look. I think the design was visually striking but polarizing.
Monday, 14 December 2015 09:23 PM The DC Avanti 310 Special Edition was revealed, featuring a 310 bhp engine, a significant upgrade from the standard model. This limited edition, with only 31 units to be produced, was aimed at enthusiasts looking for more power. I think this edition could have been a game-changer if marketed properly.
Friday, 24 April 2015 05:49 PM The Avanti has a top speed of 200 km/h and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6 seconds. It also features all-wheel disc brakes and 20-inch alloy wheels, enhancing its performance and handling. I think these specs make it a compelling option for sports car enthusiasts.
Saturday, 04 April 2015 06:19 AM Deliveries of the DC Avanti commenced on April 16, 2015, marking a milestone for Indias first indigenous sports car. The car was priced at Rs 35 lakhs (ex-showroom) and generated significant interest among sports car enthusiasts. I believe the timing was crucial for capturing the markets attention.
Monday, 06 February 2012 08:56 AM The DC Avanti was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi, showcasing its unique design and mid-engine layout. Designed by Dilip Chhabria, it was a bold step into the sports car market for an Indian company. I think the design was ahead of its time but needed more refinement.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 10:11 AM The DC Avanti Turbo is not known for its fuel efficiency, which is typical for a high-performance sports car. With an ARAI-certified mileage of 10 kmpl and an approximate combined mileage of 7 kmpl, the Avanti is certainly not the most economical choice for daily driving. However, for those who prioritize performance and style over fuel efficiency, the Avantis mileage is a trade-off that many enthusiasts are willing to make.

Summary DC Avanti is India's very own supercar which has been designed and manufactured solely in the country. It is easily world's most affordable supercar. It comes with a 2000 cc engine which produces a maximum power of 250 bhp @ 5500 rpm and gives out a maximum torque of 340 Nm @ 2750 to 5000 rpm. The car makes it from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6 seconds. DC Avanti's top speed is electronically limited to 200 kmph and it is priced at INR 36,80,000. This 4 cylinder engine car looks a lot like 16 cylinder Lamborghini Aventador, but does not quite match up to the performance of international supercars.

Lacks the opulence of cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper thus making it hard to compete

Abhay Singh Bhadauria | 2 years ago

As compared to the aerodynamics and exterior of the car, the interior of the DC Avanti is not as impressive. It lacks the opulence of cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper thus making it hard to compete with them in terms of looks. However, if it had the same level of interior design, it could potentially be the best selling sports car ever. The DC Avanti could use some improvements in its interior design to rival cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper.

Not the best choice for those looking for a sports car

Abhinit Kumar Sinha | 2 years ago

The DC Avanti is a great car for those looking for a sporty exterior and a cheap interior. It does not come with airbags or automatic features, but it does have a good sports display. Additionally, it lacks electronic adjustable seats, which is a bit of a disappointment. For these reasons, it might not be the best choice for those looking for a sports car.
