DC Avanti V6

About
The DC Avanti is Indias first mid-engined supercar, designed and manufactured by DC Design. It features a steel space frame chassis with carbon-fibre body panels, which helps in maintaining a kerb weight of around 1562 kg. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre DOHC 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, though a V6 engine is planned for future variants. This engine produces 250 bhp and 340 Nm of torque, allowing the car to go from 0 to 100 kmph in just 6 seconds, with an electronically limited top speed of 200 kmph. The Avanti has a ground clearance of 170 mm, which is beneficial for navigating Indias rough roads. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission and features like ABS and dual SRS airbags as standard. The cars design is aggressive and sporty, drawing inspiration from international supercars, making it a standout on Indian roads. Despite some quality and safety concerns, the DC Avanti represents a bold step in Indias automotive industry.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The DC Avanti V6 is an ambitious project that marks a significant milestone in Indias automotive history as the countrys first mid-engined supercar. While it boasts a sporty design that certainly turns heads, its overall package is a mixed bag. The V6 engine, though not yet available as of my last update, promises to elevate the performance to a new level, but the current 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, sourced from Renaultsport, delivers a respectable 250 bhp and 340 Nm of torque. However, the lack of airbags and some quality issues are glaring oversights. The cars ability to handle Indias rough roads is commendable, but it doesnt quite match the handling and refinement of international supercars. For its price, it offers a unique blend of performance and practicality, making it an interesting choice for those looking for a homegrown supercar.
Price
The DC Avanti, in its base form, is priced around INR 36,80,000 ex-showroom. However, with the extensive options list, the final cost can easily escalate to around INR 50,000 or more, depending on the customizations chosen. For the V6 variant, which is expected to join the lineup, the price is likely to be higher, though exact figures are not yet available. Considering the unique status of being Indias first supercar and its performance credentials, the pricing is relatively aggressive and competitive, especially when compared to imported supercars. However, the additional costs for customizations and the lack of certain safety features might make some buyers pause.
Latest Updates
Thursday, 31 December 2020 03:26 PM The DC Avanti, including the V6 variant, has faced significant setbacks due to legal issues involving its founder, Dilip Chhabria. Chhabria was arrested in a cheating and forgery case, which has impacted the production and sales of the DC Avanti. This has left the future of the V6 model uncertain. I believe this is a significant blow to the Indian sports car market, which was looking forward to a homegrown performance vehicle.
Thursday, 31 December 2020 12:45 PM There has been ongoing speculation about the potential of the DC Avanti V6 in the Indian market. With its planned 400 bhp engine, it was expected to compete with higher-end sports cars. However, the production halt and legal issues have put these plans on hold. I believe that if the V6 had made it to market, it would have been a significant player in the Indian sports car segment.
Thursday, 31 December 2020 09:26 AM Given the current legal and production issues, the future of the DC Avanti V6 remains uncertain. The cars potential to revive and compete in the market is now in doubt. I think its a shame, as the V6 variant had a lot of promise for Indian car enthusiasts.
Tuesday, 21 April 2020 07:49 PM The DC Avanti, including the V6 variant, has faced criticism for its design and styling. The cars mix of sharp and undefined lines has been a point of contention, with some feeling it lacks a unified design language. Despite this, the Avantis unique look has its fans. I believe that while the design is polarizing, it certainly stands out in the Indian market.
Thursday, 10 December 2015 12:21 PM Although not specifically the V6, the DC Avanti 310 Limited Edition was a step towards enhancing the Avanti series. This limited edition, priced at Rs. 44 lakh, was designed to offer more power and a sleeker design, hinting at what the V6 could have offered. The 310 edition was a response to those seeking more performance from the Avanti. I think this limited edition was a great move to keep the Avanti relevant in the market.
Friday, 24 April 2015 12:45 PM The DC Avanti V6 was planned to be powered by a larger V6 engine sourced from Honda, producing 400 bhp. This engine was intended to cater to performance enthusiasts, offering a significant boost in power compared to the standard 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. This move was aimed at competing with international sports cars in terms of performance. I believe the V6 engine would have been a game-changer for the Avanti.
Friday, 10 April 2015 08:48 PM The DC Avanti, including the anticipated V6 variant, was initially set to launch in mid-May 2015. The car was touted as Indias first homegrown sports car, generating significant excitement among car enthusiasts. However, the launch did not include the V6 model, which was expected to follow later. I think the initial reception was positive, but the lack of the V6 variant at launch was a bit disappointing.
Friday, 10 April 2015 05:22 PM The DC Avanti, with its planned V6 engine, was not only aimed at the Indian market but also had potential for export. The engines were Euro 5 compliant, with the possibility of upgrading to Euro 6 norms for international markets. This strategy was part of DCs plan to make the Avanti a global player. I believe this was an ambitious and promising move for an Indian car manufacturer.
Friday, 10 April 2015 05:17 PM The DC Avanti V6 was expected to come with a six-speed manual gearbox, with a six-speed dual-clutch power shift unit planned for future enhancements. The V6 engine was designed to provide a significant performance boost, making the Avanti more competitive in the sports car segment. I think the combination of the V6 engine and advanced transmission would have made the Avanti a compelling choice for performance enthusiasts.
Friday, 10 April 2015 04:20 PM DC aimed to sell 300 units of the Avanti by 2014, with select exclusive dealerships in major cities. The strategy was to target buyers who valued performance and style without the hefty price tag of international sports cars. I think this was a smart approach to penetrate the Indian sports car market.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 10:19 AM The DC Avanti, with its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, is not expected to be a fuel-efficient car, but it manages a respectable mileage given its performance. It is estimated to deliver around 10-14 kmpl in overall driving conditions, which is quite reasonable for a sports car. This mileage, combined with a 50-litre fuel tank, makes it manageable for daily use, though its clear that fuel efficiency is not the primary focus of this vehicle.

Lacks the opulence of cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper thus making it hard to compete

Abhay Singh Bhadauria | 2 years ago

As compared to the aerodynamics and exterior of the car, the interior of the DC Avanti is not as impressive. It lacks the opulence of cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper thus making it hard to compete with them in terms of looks. However, if it had the same level of interior design, it could potentially be the best selling sports car ever. The DC Avanti could use some improvements in its interior design to rival cars like the Jaguar and Mini Cooper.

Not the best choice for those looking for a sports car

Abhinit Kumar Sinha | 2 years ago

The DC Avanti is a great car for those looking for a sporty exterior and a cheap interior. It does not come with airbags or automatic features, but it does have a good sports display. Additionally, it lacks electronic adjustable seats, which is a bit of a disappointment. For these reasons, it might not be the best choice for those looking for a sports car.
