Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata TAMO RaceMo is a groundbreaking sports car that marks a significant shift in Tata Motors approach to vehicle design and technology. With its sleek, futuristic design inspired by the likes of Lotus, Ferrari, and McLaren, the RaceMo stands out as a unique offering in the Indian market. The cars performance is impressive, boasting a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that produces 190 PS and 210 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 kmh in under 6 seconds. The use of advanced materials like the MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich structure enhances its structural integrity and design freedom. However, the limited production run of just 250 units and the lack of actual market launch despite initial promises might dampen the enthusiasm for some potential buyers. Nonetheless, the RaceMo is a testament to Tata Motors capability to produce a high-performance, technologically advanced sports car.
Price
The Tata TAMO RaceMo was expected to be priced between 25 and 30 lakh in India, although it never made it to the market as anticipated. If it were to be launched, this price range would have positioned it as a competitive entry in the sports car segment, offering a blend of performance, design, and technology at a relatively affordable price compared to other sports cars available in the market. The ex-showroom price would likely be around 25 lakh, with on-road prices varying depending on the state and local taxes, potentially reaching up to 30 lakh or more. This pricing strategy would have made the RaceMo an attractive option for those looking for a budget sports car with hypercar styling.
Latest Updates
Friday, 25 May 2018 04:43 PM The Tata TAMO RaceMo project was officially shelved by Tata Motors due to cost-cutting measures. The companys Chief Financial Officer, PB Balaji, confirmed that projects without economic value, including the TaMo RaceMo, were stopped. This decision was part of Tatas efforts to streamline operations and reduce costs. I believe this move was necessary for Tatas financial stability, but its a shame for sports car enthusiasts in India.
Monday, 07 August 2017 01:38 PM Despite initial excitement, Tata Motors announced that they would not proceed with the TaMo sub-brand and the Racemo sports car due to financial constraints. The company was experiencing a slump in its core commercial vehicles unit and decided to focus on cost reduction. This included skipping the Geneva auto show and canceling the T1 Prima India-based truck racing series. I think this decision highlights the challenges automakers face in balancing innovation with financial viability.

Wednesday, 08 March 2017 12:09 PM The Tata TAMO RaceMo was designed to be a budget sports car with a unique design inspired by racecars. It had butterfly doors, LED headlights, and a chassis constructed by Marcello Gandini. I think the design elements made it stand out as a potential game-changer in the Indian sports car market.

It was to be a limited edition sports car with only 250 units planned, featuring a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine and a 6-speed AMT gearbox with paddle shifters. I believe the pricing and exclusivity could have made it a highly desirable car in the Indian market.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 02:40 AM The mileage of the Tata TAMO RaceMo is not explicitly stated, but given its high-performance nature and the 1.2-liter turbocharged engine, it is expected to be on the lower side. Typically, sports cars prioritize performance over fuel efficiency, so buyers should anticipate mileage in the range of 8-12 kml, depending on driving conditions. This makes it less suitable for daily commuting but ideal for occasional spirited driving.

Tata Racemo is the first hypercar from Tata which comes with a turbo-charged engine. It is the first model to be teased by the company under the brand name Tamo. Truly a treat for fans of this segment at such a low cost, a nightmae for DC Avanti in all rights.
