This decision was part of the companys strategy to utilize its Indian facilities for export markets only. The Sail LS (Diesel) was one of the popular variants in the Sail lineup. I think this move was a significant blow to Chevrolets presence in the Indian market.

In December 2016, Chevrolet India offered benefits of up to Rs. 55,000 on the updated Chevrolet Sail series, including the Sail LS (Diesel). This was an attempt to boost sales before the eventual discontinuation. The Sail LS (Diesel) featured a 1.3 litre SDE SMARTECH turbocharged diesel engine producing 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. I believe these offers were a last-ditch effort to clear inventory.
