While the car’s 2.5-tonne weight is noticeable, especially around corners, the M5's ride is compliant and surprisingly stable on rough Indian roads. It offers advanced safety and convenience tech, including night vision and adaptive headlights, ensuring both thrilling and secure driving. The M5 maintains the essence of the model’s legacy while embracing modern hybrid tech, combining luxury and performance into one versatile package ideal for enthusiasts looking for an ultra-premium performance sedan in India.
The 2025 BMW M5 strikes a remarkable balance between luxury and blistering performance, making it a standout choice for those who want a high-performance sedan that can be driven daily in India’s varied conditions. The hybrid V8 setup delivers 717bhp with electrifying responsiveness but also offers a quieter, more composed drive when in electric mode, well-suited for city traffic. Despite its hefty 2.4-tonne weight, the all-wheel-drive M xDrive system keeps the car planted and confident, instilling a sense of control rather than chaos. The interior is a refined cocoon with top-tier materials, advanced iDrive 8.5 infotainment, and sporty yet comfortable seats that hold occupants securely during spirited driving. While it may not be the most nimble on track due to its weight, it excels on highways and long drives, offering a perfect blend of power, comfort, and cutting-edge technology. This M5 is more composed and classy compared to predecessors, with a modern hybrid twist that aligns well with current driving and regulatory trends in India.
Recent news and announcements
BMW has emphasized the importance of maintaining the M5s handling and agility despite the significant weight gain from the hybrid system. The car features adaptive dampers, rear-wheel steering, and beefed-up rear axle mounts to ensure it remains agile on twisty roads and in town. I believe these efforts will pay off in real-world driving.
The new BMW M5 boasts impressive performance figures, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 189 mph. The cars hybrid system ensures both powerful acceleration and decent electric range, making it versatile for various driving conditions. I think these performance numbers are impressive, especially considering the added weight.
The 2025 BMW M5 is priced starting at almost £115,000, making it a premium offering in the super saloon segment. The car is set to compete directly with the Mercedes-AMG C63 S, offering more power and better electric range. I think the pricing is reasonable given the advanced technology and performance on offer.
The 2025 BMW M5 has been unveiled, and its now exclusively available as a plug-in hybrid, combining a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor to produce 727 horsepower and 1,000 Nm of torque. This new model also features an 18.6 kWh battery, providing up to 40 miles of electric range. The car is significantly heavier than its predecessor but boasts improved power-to-weight ratio. I think this hybrid system is a bold move, but it might just work in favor of daily usability.
The interior of the 2025 BMW M5 has been revamped with new features such as an all-new steering wheel with illuminated M buttons, M seats with a lighted logo, and M lighting in the 5 Series light bar. The M Control panel includes M Modes and a red start button, enhancing the driving experience. I believe these interior updates will make the driving experience more engaging.
Pricing details and changes
In India, the BMW M5 2025 is priced at approximately Rs 2 crore ex-showroom, with the on-road price likely crossing Rs 2.15 crore depending on the city and applicable taxes. This reflects a revised GST structure that has brought a price reduction of up to Rs 4.3 lakh recently, somewhat softening its steep premium. The M5 sits at the very high end of the luxury sports sedan segment in India, rivaling other flagship models from Mercedes-AMG and Audi’s RS range. This price includes an advanced hybrid powertrain, all-wheel drive, and a host of luxury and safety features. Owning a car at this level in India means significant costs beyond purchase, including insurance, maintenance, and road tax, all of which are proportionate to its exclusive positioning. This makes the M5 a serious investment for those who seek uncompromised performance and luxury combined with the prestige of the BMW M badge, and are prepared for the premium ownership experience in the Indian market.
In India, the BMW M5 2025 is priced at approximately Rs 2 crore ex-showroom. The on-road price including taxes, insurance, registration, and handling typically pushes this figure to about Rs 2.15-2.2 crore depending on the city. This pricing has seen a slight benefit from the updated GST rates, bringing a modest reduction of around Rs 4.3 lakh recently. Given its positioning as a flagship high-performance luxury sedan, this premium price reflects not just the vehicle engineering but also exclusivity and status. Buyers are paying for cutting-edge hybrid V8 powertrain technology, lavish interiors, and advanced safety and convenience features. While this package is undoubtedly costly, it competes favorably against rivals like the Mercedes-AMG E63, offering a sportier edge and slightly more tech. Overall, from a value perspective, the price is justified for enthusiasts looking for a rare blend of luxury and motorsport pedigree in India.
Fuel efficiency information
The BMW M5’s fuel efficiency in India is around 9 kmpl on petrol and can reach up to 49 kmpl in the hybrid mode, with an electric-only range of approximately 69 km. Considering the size and power of this vehicle, the hybrid setup considerably improves running costs in city traffic, making it more manageable for everyday use despite its high performance credentials.
The BMW M5’s mileage in India is understandably on the lower side due to the powerful V8 engine combined with hybrid technology primarily designed for performance rather than economy. It delivers around 9 km/l on petrol and can achieve up to 49 km/l in its electric mode under ideal conditions, with a 69 km electric range aiding city commutes. Running costs are higher than regular sedans, so those prioritizing mileage should weigh this carefully against the driving thrills and technology on offer.
