Yamahas decision to discontinue the R15 V2.0 was part of their strategy to focus on the newer V3.0 model, which was launched with additional features to comply with BS6 emissions norms. The V3.0 was priced at Rs. 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and offered more value with its updated technology. I think this transition was crucial for Yamaha to maintain its market presence.

The Yamaha YZF-R15 V2.0 was known for its improved performance and design over its predecessor. It featured an aluminium swingarm, which aided in weight reduction, and an engine ECU tuned for better high-speed performance. The bike also boasted enhanced braking capabilities and a fuel economy of around 38 kmpl. I believe these updates made the V2.0 a compelling choice for sport bike enthusiasts.

The R15 V2.0 was praised for its racing instincts, both on the track and on highways. It had a liquid-cooled, 4-stroke engine with a maximum power output of 17PS at 8,500rpm. The bikes suspension, though unchanged, felt improved due to the revamped rear design. I believe the V2.0 set a high standard for future versions of the R15.

The collaboration between Yamaha and its dealers was key in making the R15 V2.0 a favorite among bikers. I think such partnerships are essential for the success of any motorcycle model.
