The 2012 Hero Xtreme saw a significant design overhaul, including a new instrument console with a digital speedometer, odometer, and trip meter. The bike also featured a redesigned fairing, new graphics, and integrated turn indicators, enhancing its visual appeal. The split seat and new fuel tank design added to its sporty look.

The Hero Xtreme (2012) was powered by a 149.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 14.2 bhp at 8500 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. This engine was mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. I think this engine provided a good balance between power and fuel efficiency.

The bike was available in two variants: one with self-start, alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, and another with self-start, alloy wheels, and rear drum brakes. Both variants featured a digital plus analogue instrument cluster. I believe the disc brake variant offered better braking performance.

The Hero Xtreme (2012) had a kerb weight of 150 kg and a ground clearance of 145 mm. It also featured tubeless MRF tyres and a maintenance-free battery. The heavy weight was a concern, but it felt refined at high speeds.

The bike was priced at Rs 71,200 in India before it was discontinued. It was available in five color options: Sports Red, Panther Black Metallic, Digital Silver, and Max Brown Metallic. I think the pricing was competitive for its segment.

The 2012 Hero Xtreme introduced several comfort features, including split seats, pillion footrests, and heavy-duty suspension. The seats were particularly praised for their comfort, making it a standout in the 150cc category. I believe these features made it a great commuter bike.

Hero MotoCorp removed the CBZ prefix from the bikes name, rebranding it as the Hero Xtreme. This change came after Hero Honda split from Honda. The new branding was part of Heros effort to establish its own identity in the market.

The Hero Xtreme (2012) had a fuel tank capacity of 12.10 litres and an overall length of 2080 mm. It featured a telescopic hydraulic front suspension and a rectangular swing arm rear suspension. I think the suspension setup provided a smooth ride.

The bikes instrument console included a digital speedometer, analogue tachometer, and digital trip meters, all illuminated with a blue backlight. This was a significant upgrade from the previous analogue speedometer. I believe this made the bike look more modern and user-friendly.

The Hero Xtreme (2012) was known for its excellent paint quality and aesthetic design elements, such as the Astra gold-colored front shock absorbers and the integrated front and rear indicators. I think the design updates made it visually appealing.

MAXABOUT RATING AND OVERVIEW | |
Vehicle Overview | Hero Xtreme Version 1.0 was the first model that evolved out of the old CBZ moniker. It used a 149.2cc, single cylinder air cooled engine that is good for 14.2 BHP at 8500 rpm and 12.8 Nm at 6500 rpm. The motorcycle weighs a lot more than traditional 150 cc bikes, carrying a wet weight of 150 kg. This altered the performance as the motorcycle still was unable to compete against the high performance and torque values of rivals like Yamaha FZ and TVS Apache RTR 160. It was more into the commuter segment and carried CBZ inspired design with modern additions. |
