After the successful launch of A-Star, new Swift, Ertiga and Ritz, Maruti Suzuki India has launched the much-awaited 2012 model of their popular sedan ‘Swift Dzire’ in Indian Market. New Maruti Swift Dzire is based on the 2011 model of Swift hatchback which went on sale in August, 2011 in India, promising better dynamics, increased performance and improved CO2 emissions and better fuel economy. Maruti Suzuki India has limited the length of new Swift DZire under four metres to get the excise benefits (excise duty is 10 percent on vehicles under 4 metres and 22 percent above 4 metres in length). As expected because of this benefit the new Swift Dzire is cheaper in comparison to the 2011 models. The base model of petrol Swift Dzire is priced at Rs. 4,79,000 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi) and base model of diesel is priced at Rs. 5,80,000 (Ex-Showroom New Delhi). The new DZire has at least 150 new features compared to the existing one. The company, however, will continue to produce the old DZire in stripped down versions to target the fleet segment. It is exepcted that Maruti will rename the sedan to cater the fleet services.

Design and Styling of 2012 New Maruti Swift DZire
The 2012 model of Swift DZire looks much better and proportionate in comparison to the outgoing 2011 model. It is only 145mm longer than the Maruti Swift, which means less boot space (only 316 litres) but increased fuel efficiency, thanks to light weight body. The front design of 2012 Swift DZire is exact same like the New Swift sans minor changes made to the front bumper. It also features new black matte finish front grille and round front fog lamps to make it look different in comparison to Maruti Swift hacthback. The rear end of 2012 Swift Dzire is all-new featuring new tail lamps, boot design, chrome strip above the number plate and new rear bumper. New boot looks much better, proportionate and well integrated to the body unlike the 2011 model of Swift Dzire.
Interiors and Comfort Features of 2012 New Maruti Swift DZire
The interiors are also same (beige and black) like the Swift, which now looks more premium and upmarket in comparison to the boring and dull interiors of the 2011 model of Swift Dzire. The top model comes fully loaded with host of comfort and safety features like power steering, automatic climate control system, power windows, remote central locking, steering mounted audio controls, seat height adjustment for driver, rear defogger, alloy wheels, fog lights and dash integrated music system.

Powering the petrol model of New Swift DZire is the 1197cc, VVT, K-series engine that generates 86 bhp at 6000 rpm and 114 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm, contributing to a smooth ride. The diesel engine is a turbo-charged 1.3L makes 75 bhp at 4000 rpm and 190 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. There are 6 computers on board for engine management system, electronic power steering, automatic climate control, anti-lock braking system, central locking and airbag deployment. The VXi model of new Swift DZire is also available with option of 4-speed automatic transmission.
