Maruti Ritz was first shown at Delhi Auto Expo in 2008 and it was launched in 2009 to capture the customers who do not want to get caught in the long waiting lines to buy Swift and has to opt for other hatchbacks. And the plan seemed to work in the favour of Maruti as Ritz got a good response from the customers as well as from the dealers. Recently, Maruti has made some modifications in Ritz to keep it running in the competition with other hatchbacks of its segment.
Maruti Ritz has a beautiful, elegant and yet unique exterior which includes a medium-sized angular bonnet with edgy lines to give it a V-shape and has extended front headlights, stylish front bumper, trendy surrounded fog lights, long and extended sporty front grille with number plate dividing the air dam on it and with Suzuki logo in the center, long and deep nose, 14-inch alloy wheels, huge wheel arches extending from front bonnet till rear bumper, body colored door handles and outside mirrors in top model, roof high at front which slopes down at rear, wide rear hips with long tail lights and trendy rear glass and wiper in boot gate.
The interior of this hatchback has a premium look with dual tone colors inside, blue colored seats, silver finished inside door handles, fully fabricated stuffing, waterfall inspired central console, three spoke adjustable steering wheel with audio controls and gear knob same as before. As for the comfort of the passengers, it has adjustable front and rear headrests, height adjustable driver seat, tilt-able power steering, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirrors, large space for rear knee room, easily understandable instrument cluster with separately placed trendy round tachometer, powerful AC with heater, Multi Information Display on instrument panel and power windows on all four doors and central locking in top model.
Maruti Ritz also has a highly textured, dual toned, partly blue, long and highly spacious dashboard with AC vents, silver finished V-shaped waterfall central console, oval white speedometer, glove box with storage space, a big storage tray under the front passenger seat and a parcel tray at rear, door pockets and back pockets on front seats. It has a small boot capacity of 178 litres which can however be extended by folding the rear seats. The top model has a quality music system integrated with central console with radio and CD player, four powerful speakers and a 12V accessory socket. The new diesel variant also has a USB port in it.
Maruti Ritz has two engine options: The 1197cc 1.2L K12M petrol engine has a maximum power of 84 bhp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque of 113 Nm at 4500 rpm giving the top speed of 175 kmph and reaches 0-100 kmph mark in less than 14 seconds. It gives a mileage of 13-14 kmpl in the cities and around 16 kmpl on the highways. The 1248cc 1.3L four cylinder DDiS Diesel engine generates a maximum power of 74 bhp at 4000 rpm and a maximum torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm giving the top speed of 180 kmph and reaches 0-100 kmph mark in 15-16 seconds. It gives a mileage of 16 kmpl in the cities and 20 kmpl on the highways. Both these engines are mated to five speed manual gearbox. Ritz has a good and high seating position for driver and a high ground clearance of 170 mm saves you from the potholes of Indian roads while 4.7m of minimum turning radius gives a certain freedom in the over-crowded cities and in parking. It is equipped with disk brakes at front and drum brakes at rear. Its suspension is McPherson strut with coil spring in front and torsion beam with coil spring in rear. Also, for the safety of the passengers, it has ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, Dual front Airbags and iCATS immobilizer.
Maruti Ritz is available in eight beautiful shades which are Superior White, Bakers Chocolate, New Breeze Blue, Silky Silver, New Granite Grey, New Mystique Red, Midnight Black and New Racing Green. It has a price range in between INR 4.29-6.39 lakhs (approx., may vary). It comes with a warranty of 2 years or 40,000kms whatever comes earlier and it can also be extended further if you want to. Overall, this hatchback is a fine blend of power, style, performance, speed, comfort, safety and price. With the brand name of Maruti behind it, it also supposed to have good resale value and low maintenance cost.
