Honda Mobilio Diesel V
Honda Variant
General information and overview
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V is a seven-seater MPV that was part of Hondas lineup in India before its discontinuation. It is powered by a 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine, producing 99 bhp and 200 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle stands out for its spacious interior, particularly the third row and boot space, which are among the best in its class. It features tumble fold seats, rear AC vents, and a rear seat armrest, making it practical for family use. However, it lacks in terms of interior refinement, with cheap plastics and basic dashboard design being notable negatives. The engine is well-suited for city driving but lacks the punch needed for highway cruising. Overall, it is a practical choice for those needing a spacious and fuel-efficient MPV, but it requires careful consideration of its shortcomings.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V is a mixed bag when it comes to overall performance and value. On the positive side, it offers a spacious interior, particularly in the third row and boot space, which is a significant advantage over its competitors like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. The 1.5-liter i-DTEC diesel engine is efficient, especially in city driving, providing linear acceleration and good fuel economy. However, the vehicle falls short in several areas. The interior design and quality of plastics are subpar, with many users complaining about the cheap feel and lack of refinement. The ride quality is average, and stability issues become apparent at higher speeds. Additionally, the absence of several practical features and the poor NVH insulation are notable drawbacks. Overall, while the Mobilio has its strengths, it does not justify the premium price tag, especially when compared to other options in the market.
Recent news and announcements
Honda has officially discontinued the production and sales of the Honda Mobilio in India, including the Diesel V variant, due to poor sales and increasing competition in the MPV segment. The last recorded price of the Honda Mobilio Diesel V was around Rs. 10.74 Lakh. I think this move was inevitable given the vehicles declining market performance.
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V, known for its 1.5L i-DTEC engine producing 99 bhp, had been facing stiff competition from newer models like the updated Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Toyota Innova. The Mobilios higher pricing compared to its competitors was a significant factor in its declining sales. I believe the pricing strategy was a major misstep for Honda.
Honda unveiled the BR-V at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016, which was seen as a potential replacement for the Mobilio in terms of market positioning. The BR-Vs SUV-like design and features were more aligned with current market trends, making the Mobilio seem outdated. I think the BR-V was a smarter move for Honda.
Despite its spacious interior and good fuel economy of 24.2 kmpl, the Honda Mobilio Diesel V failed to attract significant sales in the later years of its production. The vehicles lack of updates and newer features compared to its rivals further contributed to its decline. Its clear that Honda underestimated the competition.
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V was praised for its comfortable ride and good handling, but it lacked the modern features and technological advancements that newer models were offering. This lack of innovation made it less appealing to potential buyers. It seems Honda missed the mark on keeping the Mobilio updated.
Pricing details and changes
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V, although discontinued, was priced around Rs. 10.74 lakh ex-showroom. When considering the on-road price, it would typically range from Rs. 12 to 13 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. In my opinion, this pricing is not entirely justified given the cost-cutting measures evident in the vehicles build quality and feature list. The premium over its competitors, such as the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, does not align with the additional value it offers. However, for those who prioritize space and fuel efficiency, it might still be a consideration, albeit with a critical eye on the overall package.
Fuel efficiency information
The Honda Mobilio Diesel V offers impressive fuel economy, with an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.2 kmpl. In real-world conditions, users have reported mileage ranging from 15 to 18 kmpl, which is commendable for a seven-seater MPV. This makes it a viable option for those concerned about running costs, especially for city driving where the engines efficiency shines.

Climate control missing. Otherwise Honda will give tough time to Innova. But overall its ok... May be for their next refreshed launch. Expecting the CC feature on refreshed Amaze as well. Amaze too is amazing launch. Waiting Honda to bring this feature on budget cars. Currently using Hyundai i20. Please update me.
