Honda is a Japanese multinational company that is popularly known as the manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles. It is the largest manufacture of motorcycles since 1959 and largest manufacturer of internal combustion engines measured by volume. With branches all across globe, Honda's research and development center in Indonesia has developed a “low” MPV, which is based on the Brio hatchback. This LMPV was unveiled in Indonesia at the International Motor Show on September 19, 2013. This LMPV is specially designed for Asian markets and is expected to launch in India by February 2014. In Indonesia this low MPV has been named ‘Mobilio’. It is expected to be sold by the same name in India too.

The exact dimensions of Honda Mobilio are yet to be unveiled but the designs of the LMPV (Low Multi Purpose Vehicle) have been launched. This C+ segment MPV will be available with two engine options i.e diesel engine and petrol engine. The 1.5-liter petrol engine will be making 1497cc of engine displacement. This iVTEC engine will be generating power up to 116 bhp at 6600 rpm and thus producing torque up to 146 Nm at 4800 rpm. Whereas the 1.5-litre diesel engine will develop 1498cc of engine displacement. The power produced by this iDTEC engine will be 98.6 bhp at 3600 rpm and the maximum torque generated will be 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. It will be having seating capacity of 7 average people and its engine will be mated with 5-speed manual transmission. This low MPV “Mobilio” will be having McPherson strut as front suspension and torsional beam as rear suspension. The brakes of this MPV will be electronically distributed and supported by anti-lock braking system. The front tires will be provided with disc brakes whereas the rear tires will be having drum brakes. The fuel tank capacity of this Honda MPV is expected to be 35 litres. It will be having electrically powered steering to provide accurate manoeuvre through tight turns.

The safety features included in Honda Mobilio will be dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front fog lamps, key less entry and engine immobilizer. It will be having a powerful air conditioner with heating application and without climate control feature. Its rear windshield will be equipped with quick defogger and a wiper to clear out the fog or dust on it. The instrument cluster on the MPV dashboard will be consists of tachometer, dual trip meter, speedometer, fuel gauge meter and distance to empty. It will be equipped with music player that supports AM/FM, MP3 with Aux-in and USB ports. The steering wheel will be having mounted controls of music player. All the windows of the MPV will be electrically controlled and the front windows will be having auto up/down feature. The rear seats of the MPV can also be folded and the driver's seat will be having manual settings. The steering wheel can be adjusted for rake settings. The boot and the fuel filler can be controlled remotely from inside the MPV. The bumpers of Honda Mobilio will be bearing same color as the body of the car. In India this MPV might be available in the ex-showroom price between 6 lakh to 8 lakh.
