TVS XL100 Review
Detailed Review by Maxabout Team
Overview
The TVS XL 100 is without a doubt India's most user-friendly two-wheeler. You can call it a scooter, a bike, or even both; but the TVS XL 100 knows a thing or two about Indian road conditions. For decades, the new TVS XL 100 has been a strong people carrier in India, with a stronghold on towing and payload capacities. No matter how much luggage you have, the TVS XL 100 will always be there to withstand Indian road conditions. TVS recently introduced a limited edition of the TVS XL 100 to commemorate its legacy. The limited edition, dubbed the TVS XL 100 Winner Edition, breathed new life into the TVS XL 100.
TVS XL100 Design and Style
2023 TVS XL 100 is exactly what you'd expect from a moped. The TVS XL 100 is a rural market moped with a capacity of 100cc that is primarily used as a load carrier. There are a few modern touches scattered throughout. The XL 100 now has LED DRLs up front, giving it a much more modern appearance, but that is the only cosmetic change. Except for the new body graphics and better-cushioned seats, there isn't much to brag about in terms of design.
Despite its outmoded appearance, the XL was designed with functionality in mind. The new XL 100 has a long footboard between the seats to accommodate luggage. It also has a storage area for small objects next to the footboard. It has a removable rear seat for carrying large amounts of luggage because it is a heavy-duty vehicle.
In addition, the TVS XL has a sturdy metal body that will stand the test of time. Furthermore, the car has ergonomic handlebars that improve riding posture and provide comfort. It has a box-shaped tail lamp in the front and a body-coloured fender in the back.
2023 TVS XL 100's dimensions are as follows: 1895 mm in length, 670 mm in width, and 1077 mm in height. The wheelbase of the moped is 1228 mm. It has a respectable ground clearance of 158 mm. The new TVS XL 100 is a gearless moped with a curb weight of 86 kg and a fuel tank capacity of 4 litres. Given its size, the XL 100's load carrying capacity of 130 kg is exceptional.
TVS XL100 Engine and Gearbox
2023 TVS XL100 is powered by a 99.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with EcoThrust Fuel Injection and BS6-Compliant. The motor generates max torque of 6.5 Nm at 3500 rpm and a maximum power output of 4.3 hp at 6000 rpm. The 99.7cc engine has a strong first kick and is extremely responsive. It can carry up to 130 kg and offers adequate performance for city commuting.
The BS6 engine in the XL 100 is similarly refined and sophisticated. It now has a fuel-injection system, which has significantly improved how smooth and refined the engine feels in comparison to before. In the low and middle rpm ranges, the engine is extremely responsive. The car has a good fuel economy rating; fuel injection technology is important because it improves both fuel efficiency and power delivery.
Because of its strong suspension system, the new XL100 performs well on uneven terrain as well. The vehicle's stated top speed is around 60 km/h, and its overall range is respectable at around 230 km despite its small 4-litre fuel tank.
TVS XL100 Suspension, Brakes and Tyres
Twin hydraulic springs in the back and a traditional telescopic suspension up front support the 16-inch spoke wheels. These tyres provide adequate traction on rough roads and have a high resistance to aquaplaning, and support a substantial amount of weight. The new XL100 also has durable and long-lasting dura grip tyres that are puncture-resistant. Both of its wheels have drum brakes. In terms of braking, the XL100 has 110mm drum brakes on both the front and rear axles. The drum brakes provide adequate feedback and bite and are efficient given the weight and power of XL100.
TVS XL100 Top Speed and Mileage
The top speed of the new XL100 is around 60 to 65 km/h and the mileage is 55 to 67 km/l approximately.
Variants
TVS offers the new XL100 in 5 variants namely, TVS XL100 Comfort, TVS XL100 Heavy Duty, TVS XL100 Heavy Duty i-Touchstart, TVS XL100 Win Edition and TVS XL100 Comfort i-Touchstart.

TVS has given some bold styling and attractive graphics to this model. Heavy Duty i-touchstart is available in 5 colours: Black, Blue, Green, Mineral Purple, and Red.
TVS XL100 Win Edition
TVS recently introduced a limited edition of the TVS XL 100 to commemorate its legacy. The limited edition, dubbed the TVS XL 100 Winner Edition, breathed new life into the TVS XL 100. It includes five significant changes. This includes a new paint scheme as well as special edition decals on the metal body panels. To improve the ride experience, a larger, wider, and the more cushioned seat is available. The footboard is large and made of metal, making it more practical. Along with these changes, you now have a USB charging port. The TVS XL100 Win Edition is available in two colours: Beaver Brown and Delight Blue.
TVS XL100 Competitors
There is no direct rival to the TVS XL 100, as it is the only moped available in the Indian market. But there are some automobiles that can be considered alternatives for the TVS moped. Detel EV Easy Plus, Gravton Quanta, Hop Electric LYF, Honda Dio, Hero Pleasure Plus, Hero Destini 125, Okinawa Dual, Okinawa iPraise, PURE EV ETrance, and TVS Jupiter.
Conclusion
2023 TVS XL 100 is a popular moped with a large load carrying capacity. The XL 100 is more popular in rural areas of the country because it is tough and durable. The small fuel tank and moped design may not appeal to everyone. It is a tough workhorse that can be seen in use, particularly in rural areas and tier II cities, with many people using it as a mode of transportation for small goods. The TVS XL 100 is a typical goods carrier aimed at the practical market. You get a good package with excellent practicality, adequate performance, and some useful features. Even if we had the money, a large portion of the population is unlikely to consider this as an option. However, in terms of fuel economy, reliability, engine performance, design, and overall comfort, the TVS XL 100 offers good value for money and may be the right choice for a specific audience.
