More About Harley Davidson Dyna "Street Bob"

Main features of Street Bob are an air-cooled, rubber-mounted Twin Cam 96 V-twin, Electronic Fuel Injection, a 6-speed Cruise Drive Transmission, an under-seat battery box, and exposed rear shocks.

The bike’s exterior proportions support its distinctive name. Though the rider sits on a low, amply cushioned saddle, a wide 22 litre fuel tank forces legs to wrap around. A bobtail rear fender rests over a 180mm wide 16” rear tire, and slotted disc wheels add visual appeal.

Front brakes incorporate large, dual floating rotors with 4-piston front and 2-piston rear calipers which slow down the bike effectively, while providing decent feedback and moderate lever effort. The wide-set front fork is a 49mm polished aluminum unit with dual-rate springs, and exposed coil-over shocks sit the rear.

The low seat height of only 26.1 inches might manage to make the Street Bob look like the ride of everyone, but once you become aware of the massive stature and heavy weight, it will be once again clear that Harleys are destined to serious riders with serious demands from their bikes.

The very first things that set the Street Bob apart from other Dynas are the twin led headlights braced between polished triple clamps as well as the fat wheels. Thanks to the large diameter brake discs, these lasts actually look like Fat Boy units so it’s easy to start confusion especially if the bike cruises along you down the highway.

Harley Davidson's Plan For Indian Market

Harley Davidson would be importing its motorcycle through the CBU route (Completely Built Units) and its base model is expected to be priced at Rs. 7 Lakh onward, while higher end models would cost even more. Harley Davidson is one of world’s oldest motorcycle manufacturer with over 107 years of history behind it.

Harley-Davidson expects to start selling its best in the world cruiser motorcycles in January 2010. The company has established a subsidiary to be located in Gurgaon, near Delhi, and has begun the process of seeking dealers. “As India continues to extend its global reach, so does Harley-Davidson,” said Levatich. “We believe Harley-Davidson has outstanding opportunities for continued growth around the world.”

The company’s current approach is to import its motorcycles, accessories and riding gear, and it will continue to evaluate how best to evolve its approach to the market as Harley-Davidson’s business in India grows. Harley-Davidson is the global leader in cruising and touring motorcycles and ranks as one of the strongest brands in the world, with motorcycle sales now in more than 70 countries.

The company will focus its initial steps in India on growing the Harley-Davidson brand through a variety of consumer experiences and on establishing a local dealer network. The Harley-Davidson subsidiary in India will be led by Managing Director Anoop Prakash, who said the company has begun the process of identifying initial dealers in Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Punjab State.
