About
The Maruti 800 is a compact hatchback that has been a cornerstone of Indian roads for decades. It is powered by a 0.8-litre petrol engine that produces 48PS and 69Nm of torque, paired with a five-speed manual gearbox. The car is available in several trims, including the base L (O), LXi (O), VXi, and the top-of-the-line VXi. It features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, keyless entry, and front power windows. Safety features include dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and ABS with EBD. The Maruti 800 is known for its ease of driving, low maintenance costs, and excellent fuel economy, making it a popular choice for city commuters and first-time car owners. However, it has its limitations in terms of comfort and performance, but these are often overlooked given its value-for-money proposition.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti 800 petrol is a stalwart in the Indian automotive market, known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and affordability. While it may not impress with its performance or comfort, it excels in being a no-frills, hassle-free vehicle ideal for city driving. The cars lightweight design and compact size make it easy to maneuver through congested urban roads. However, it lacks in terms of safety features and comfort, particularly for taller drivers due to the inadequate headrest and neck support. Despite these limitations, the Maruti 800 remains a great value-for-money option for those on a tight budget, especially for first-time car buyers or those seeking a reliable second vehicle.
Price
The Maruti 800 petrol is priced very competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price in Delhi starts from around Rs 3.54 lakh for the base L (O) trim and goes up to Rs 5.13 lakh for the top VXi trim. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can range from approximately Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 6.3 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Maruti 800 one of the most affordable cars in India, offering a compelling package for budget-conscious buyers.

I live in Kolkata. We have the 2001 STD Model. Recently, we have restored the one with full engine overhauling, and loaded this car with more features. We drive this car every time. I love the Maruti 800. I am a fan of it.
Best Features: Air Conditioning, Music System, Accessories Socket
Pros: Good performance, power to weight ratio, mileage, easy and fun to drive, easy to maintain, easy to drive in crowded areas
Cons: The interiors could have been a little better. Bad smell when it is old, less space in the car

Maruti 800 the star of the world and haven... Maruti 800 have more speed than alto. It have more milage more weight more stylish. In road there are more 800 not alto. Everybody likes 800 my car is 800 and its 10 year old. Its running very fast. And it have no problem. My friend buy an alto after 3 years its engine become complant and he change car it nano. After 1 month he go in 80 km/hr. And it become vibrated and engine burned. So in this class cars maruti 800 is better. Dont buy alto or nano or eon. Its the waste cars.
