Is the MT 09 throttle too aggressive?

On the street it’s fine, but on the track it can be a handful when you’re trying to be precise with your throttle control.

The CP3 engine is a bulletproof engine. I’ve seen bikes with over 100,000 miles still rolling along.

Very reliable overall, but early models beware the cam chain tensioner. It's an easy fix though.

Mine is 40,000 miles and I've had zero issues. It's just regular maintenance and it keeps on ticking.

If you do oil changes and valve checks these things will run forever.

Absolutely not. If you are a beginner, the MT 09 has way too much power. You first need to learn how to properly control the throttle and move your body on something smaller.

If you are a mature rider with good self control it can work. Just stay in the tamest riding mode and respect what the bike can do.

I began on an MT 09 and I was fine, but I’m probably the exception. It definitely needs a little extra caution and taking it slow at first.

No way. The MT-09's power delivery is twitchy enough that even experienced riders can't help but be thrown a bit. It was easy for a new rider to get in over their head.

It depends on the person. If you have dirt bike experience or good mechanical sympathy you could probably get away with it. For most people, it’s too much bike to begin with.

Yamaha did fix most of the early models issues. Now it's fine for normal street riding.

There is always a compromise with stock suspension. If you’re serious about performance, you will want to upgrade regardless of the bike.

I ride heavier and the stock setup was way too soft. A world of difference was made with an aftermarket rear shock.

They exaggerate the problems. It's more than adequate for street use, but set it up properly for your weight.

If you’re going to throw down your coin, the SP model with the Öhlins suspension is worth it every penny. Night and day difference.

Yamaha, I think, deliberately left room for improvement. This allows people to customize to what they want and keeps the base price down.
