Which one of the two would be more appealing?

I believe the Interceptor will actually take sales away from the Classic 650. A lot of people buy the Interceptor because it’s the most ‘classic looking’ 650 RE offers. With the same engine, now they'll have a true classic option.
Which one of the two would be more appealing?

Different crowd will attract. The Interceptor feels more like a competitor to Triumph (and other retro modern bikes) than a competitor to the Rocket. People who are looking for the pure, unadulterated Royal Enfield experience will be the ones who'll get the Classic 650.
Which one of the two would be more appealing?

It's a smart move by RE. Buyers will be able to enter the 650 range at a slightly lower price than the Interceptor, probably. It's all about options.
Which one of the two would be more appealing?

It's worrying that it might muddy the waters a bit. Care should be taken by RE not to have too many similar models. Instead, they should try to make each bike different enough from the others that it deserves to be part of the lineup.
Will the Classic 650 be as modifiable as its 350cc sibling is?
09 January 2025 09:15
I bet it'll be modifiable more than the 350. The Classic has so much aftermarket support thanks to the Interceptor on the 650 platform already. And with more power, there’s more potential for performance mods.
Will the Classic 650 be as modifiable as its 350cc sibling is?

The 350 might be trickier to mod than the 350. This being a 650 twin, the engine is a bit more complex and there might be more electronic systems to look after. Maybe not as straightforward, but probably still doable.
Will the Classic 650 be as modifiable as its 350cc sibling is?

It would be crazy of RE not to make it easily modifiable. A huge part of their appeal is the custom scene and they know it. Just like they did with the 350 I'm sure they've designed it with that in mind.
Will the Classic 650 be as modifiable as its 350cc sibling is?

But I'm worried that if it's too easy to mod then it will become unreliable. Amateur mods will be a problem, but the 650 engine is a big step up in performance. Perhaps it's preferable if it's a little bit tougher to mess with.
Will the Classic 650 be as modifiable as its 350cc sibling is?

It’s going to be somewhere in the middle, I’d say. Easy cosmetic mods for sure but performance tweaks? That’s another story. In fact, that could actually be a good thing, and create a market for professional custom shops that specialize in the 650.
Maintenance costs of the Royal Enfield Classic 250 compared to its siblings will be how?

It should be cheaper. Less wear and tear, smaller engine. Also, RE parts are already pretty cheap.
Maintenance costs of the Royal Enfield Classic 250 compared to its siblings will be how?
09 January 2025 09:11
Don't bet on it. This might be an excuse for RE to jack up parts prices. People will pay for the brand – they know.
Maintenance costs of the Royal Enfield Classic 250 compared to its siblings will be how?
09 January 2025 09:11
It might be cheaper to maintain, but I bet insurance will be about the same as the 350. It may not save you all that much.
Maintenance costs of the Royal Enfield Classic 250 compared to its siblings will be how?
09 January 2025 09:11
The real question is: reliability. Maintenance costs don't really matter because if you build it well, it's going to break down less.

I hope this is an opportunity for them to bring in new technology that will actually reduce long term maintenance costs.
Will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 sound the same iconic 'thump' as the larger brothers?
09 January 2025 09:11
There's no way it'll have the same thump. That s not how physics works. It'll probably sound more like a sewing machine' she says.
Will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 sound the same iconic 'thump' as the larger brothers?
09 January 2025 09:11
RE engineers aren't dumb. I'm sure they've put in a ton of work to get as close to the classic thump as possible.
Will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 sound the same iconic 'thump' as the larger brothers?
09 January 2025 09:11
Who cares about the thump? In 2025 we should be looking at performance and efficiency, not noise.
Will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 sound the same iconic 'thump' as the larger brothers?
09 January 2025 09:11
That thump could be different, and that might be a good thing. It may have its own thing that people will be into.
Will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 sound the same iconic 'thump' as the larger brothers?
09 January 2025 09:11
I'm concerned that they’ll overdo it with the thump, and come up with something that sounds fake. It’s better to allow it to have its own voice.
What will the Royal Enfield Classic 250 mean for the custom scene?
09 January 2025 09:11
This could really be huge for the custom scene. A cheaper base bike makes it possible for more people to be able to customize. There will be tons of wild Classic 250 builds.
