The Nissan Patrol's fuel consumption, is it a deal breaker in today's eco conscious world?
06 January 2025 09:25
It's definitely an issue. My Patrol is great, but the fuel bills aren't. If Nissan made a hybrid version with the same capability, I'd switch to that in a heartbeat.

Some markets get the V6 option as a good compromise. Not as thirsty as the V8, but still powerful enough. I wish they'd offer that everywhere.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?
06 January 2025 09:25
Definitely. In the UAE, the Patrol is like a national car, but that does not translate globally. It’s too big and thirsty for most markets.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?

I don't think that skews perception that much. Australia and other places also have the Patrol popular. The terrain and fuel prices make the Middle East the place where it really shines.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?

The Middle East popularity is a sword with two edges. Sales are great, but it associates the Patrol with a certain lifestyle that might not be palatable everywhere.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?
06 January 2025 09:25
I can say as someone from outside the Middle East, the Patrol's reputation there actually makes it more appealing. It can handle anything if it can handle those conditions.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?
06 January 2025 09:25
The problem is Nissan appears to be designing the Patrol for the Middle East market now. It’s a global vehicle and they have to remember that other regions are catered to as well.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?
06 January 2025 09:25
I think people underestimate the Patrol's influence from the Middle East. But it remains a very capable vehicle that can satisfy anyone after a tough, roomy SUV.
Is the popularity of the Nissan Patrol in the Middle East the reason people think it's popular everywhere?
06 January 2025 09:25
It earns popularity in the Middle East. It's not just a status thing, it's actually well suited for the environment. However, with that said, Nissan could do a little better job of marketing its benefits in other regions.
Is the new Nissan Patrol Y63 a worthy successor to the previous ones?
06 January 2025 09:25
It's a natural evolution, the Y63. It's more luxurious, yes, but that's what the market wants these days. But it still has the power and capability for off roading, just with more comfort. Naturally, you can't fault Nissan for giving people what they want.
Is the new Nissan Patrol Y63 a worthy successor to the previous ones?
06 January 2025 09:25
Nah, they've ruined it. The Patrol was once a proper workhorse. It's just a mall crawler with a fancy badge now. Any day, give me a Y61 Super Safari over this new bling machine.
Is the new Nissan Patrol Y63 a worthy successor to the previous ones?
06 January 2025 09:25
It's a mixed bag. The tech upgrades are awesome and most people getting new Patrols aren’t hardcore off roaders anyway. I miss the simplicity of the older models, however. Maybe they should provide a stripped down version for the purists?
Is the new Nissan Patrol Y63 a worthy successor to the previous ones?
06 January 2025 09:25
People are overreacting, I believe. It's still got the core DNA — it's powerful, capable and built to last. It's more comfortable doesn't mean it can't handle the rough stuff. And the air suspension could even make its off road performance better.
Is the new Nissan Patrol Y63 a worthy successor to the previous ones?
06 January 2025 09:25
I am a long time Patrol owner and I am disappointed. The Y63 wants to be a Range Rover, rather than sticking to what it was. I understand they have to modernize, but I think they’ve gone too far.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?
06 January 2025 09:25
Patrols are tanks. We've had one in our family for 15 years and it's never failed us. But these things are built to last and regular maintenance is key.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?

They are good, but not invincible. The ZD30 engine was a real problem. Toyota Land Cruisers are probably more reliable overall, but the Patrols aren't far behind.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?
06 January 2025 09:25
That varies by model year and how it's been treated. If you take care of your Patrol, it can easily do 500,000 km, but let any car go and it will start to give you problems. But the older models were definitely tougher though.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?
06 January 2025 09:25
I don’t think the reliability is as overhyped as everyone makes it out to be. They’re solid vehicles but I’ve had my fair share of issues with mine. Electrical systems can be a pain and parts aren’t always easy to find.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?
06 January 2025 09:25
I own both Patrols and Land Cruisers and I'd say Patrols are more fun to drive, but slightly less reliable. But they’re a lot more reliable than the majority of modern SUVs.
How reliable is the Nissan Patrol really, or is it all hype?
06 January 2025 09:25
There is a well deserved reputation, especially for the older models. All the added tech means more potential points of failure, but the new ones are still reliable. It's a trade-off.
