But is the Nissan Kicks really a good value for your money, or would you be better off spending a little more on a competitor?

I think it's good value for a first car or city runabout, but if you have a lot of highway mileage, you'd want something with more power.

Don’t forget to add insurance costs. On top of that, the Kicks is cheaper to insure than most competitors.

If you plan to hold it long term, it’s only good value. Depreciation is pretty steep, so if you sell after a few years you'll take a hit.

You could get a lightly used compact SUV with more space and better performance for the price of a well equipped Kicks. Value is the way to go used.
Do people actually think the Nissan Kicks is underpowered?
06 January 2025 08:04
It's not a race car, but it works for what it's supposed to be. I have had mine for 2 years and never felt unsafe merging or passing on the highway. People exaggerate.
Do people actually think the Nissan Kicks is underpowered?

It's underpowered, an understatement. I took one for a test drive and it felt like I was flying a go kart with asthma. On the highway, it is dangerously slow.
Do people actually think the Nissan Kicks is underpowered?

On steep hills or fully loaded, the power definitely struggles, but for city driving the power is adequate. It’s all about expectations management.
Do people actually think the Nissan Kicks is underpowered?

It depends on what you're used to driving, I think. To me, coming out of a 4-cylinder Corolla, the Kicks felt peppy. If you are downsizing from a V6, you will definitely notice the difference.
Do people actually think the Nissan Kicks is underpowered?

The real culprit here is the CVT. The transmission makes it feel way slower than it actually is, the engine itself isn't terrible. A traditional automatic would make all the difference in the world.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Future classic, no doubt. So weird it's got to be a cult classic in 20 years, like the AMC Gremlin or Pontiac Aztek.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Forgotten oddity for sure. Strange enough to be forgotten, but not interesting enough to be a classic. People will see one in a few years and go 'Oh yeah, those existed'.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
I think it's going to be a bit of both. For car buffs it will be that weird Nissan experiment that never really took off, but it won’t be a vintage Mustang or any such thing.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
A true classic the Juke isn’t, it’s too mass market. Most classics have a special something about them, whether that’s amazing performance, luxury, or groundbreaking tech. The Juke is just... odd.

The PT Cruiser might become a classic of a sort: Remembered, but not necessarily remembered fondly or with any value.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
I can totally see the Juke becoming an ironic favorite in a couple of decades. I can picture one being restored in 2045 and seeing it at a car show would be head turning.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
The regular Juke? Well, the Nismo versions might become classics. Nah. The way it looks is too polarizing, and it’s not special enough performance wise.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Whether it becomes a classic is a question of how influential its design will be. It could be seen as the pioneer of a trend of quirky crossovers.
Is the Nissan Juke a future classic or a future oddity?
06 January 2025 07:58
Future classic, because it’s a car that represents a certain moment in car design, when companies were experimenting with anything to get some attention. It’s less a desirable classic and more a cultural artifact.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?
06 January 2025 07:58
You’ve got to love it or hate it, but you have to admit the Juke has balls. Nissan went full weird in a world of cookie cutter crossovers and I respect that. It’s so ugly it’s cute, it’s the pug of cars.
Is the Nissan Juke's unique design a stroke of genius or a total misfire?
06 January 2025 07:58
Genius? It’s more a drunken sketch that somehow got produced by accident. It was obviously designed by a committee of blind people who've never seen a car before.
