The engagement of a manual, especially, in the twisties is something I miss. On the highway it is good, but it kills some of the fun of sporty riding.

The DCT makes the VFR1200F seem like another bike altogether. It's so slick and easy, especially in bad traffic. I wouldn't go back to manual.

Two up riding is perfect with the DCT. The smooth shifts make my passenger happy and easy to handle the bike's weight when in slow traffic.

I really like that you are able to toggle between auto mode and manual mode. Get the best of both worlds with auto for easy touring and switch to manual when you want to play.

The DCT does a great job changing the character of the bike. A traditional motorcycle it isn’t, but feels more like a high tech sports car. Some love it, some don't.

If you’re strictly looking for pure sport touring, the DCT is tough to beat. If you want a more entertaining, conventional experience, you should go for the manual, though.

I've done several 500+ mile days on my VFR1200F and the fuel range really isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I know you stop more often, but I view it as an opportunity to stretch and to stay fresh.

That is definitely a concern for me. I love everything else about the bike, but having to stop every 150-180 miles during a long tour becomes very annoying real quick.

I believe it all depends on what type of riding you do. Sure, you'll stop a lot if you're heavy on the throttle. However, if you ride it sensibly you can coax some decent mileage out of it.

It’s not a deal breaker for me, but it is an inconvenience. I’ve figured out how to ‘plan’ for fuel stops, not ideal but workable.

But I like the frequent stops. It makes me have to take breaks, have to stay hydrated, and actually enjoy the journey. On top of that, the V4 engine takes care of any range anxiety!

Starting from a Goldwing, the VFR1200F's range was initially shocking. However, it didn’t take long to get used to it and I actually prefer the more regular breaks now.

Yeah, if you're doing Iron Butt rides, it's probably not a good choice. But for normal touring? It's totally fine. Just plan accordingly.

It’s surprisingly agile in the twisties. It may not be a supersport, but it certainly holds its own, and feels much lighter than the specs suggest.

It's not the easiest thing in the world to get low speed maneuvering down at first, if you are coming from a lighter bike. You get used to it pretty quickly but.

You definitely feel the heft in city traffic. On the open road, however, it’s a non issue. It’s a nimble, balanced bike.
