Was the Discover 135 Sports a design ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:48
I don't think that's giving it quite enough credit. A well designed bike for its time, but visionary, no. A lot of its features were just good engineering practices.
Was the Discover 135 Sports a design ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:48
In some ways, yes. The motor was torquey and the design was lightweight. In other areas, electronics and emissions, it was very much a product of its era.

And the 135 Sports had something with its balance of performance and practicality. That philosophy is finally being caught up to by modern bikes. That was a glimpse of the future.
Was the Discover 135 Sports a design ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:48
It was more timeless than ahead of its time. The fundamentals of good design don't change. The 135 just nailed it.
Was the Discover 135 Sports a design ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:48
I'd say it was more ahead of its time than right for it. Bajaj met the needs of its market perfectly, but I don't think they were trying to predict future trends.
Was the Discover 135 Sports a design ahead of its time?
29 January 2025 07:48
The 135 Sports clearly had something. One thing we’re seeing a lot more of now is its approach to accessible performance. Bajaj was reading the market right.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
Absolutely! A mini-ADV would have been a perfect start to the 135's frame and engine. Add some long travel suspension, spoked wheels and a windscreen and you have instant budget adventure bike.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
Nah, I don't see it. The 135 was too street-focused. ADV bike building is not just bolting on off road parts, it requires a ground up design approach.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
An interesting idea, but I suspect the engine would have been the limiting factor. Low end grunt and durability that the 135 motor might not have been able to deliver is what adventure bikes need.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
With some serious re-engineering, maybe. The basic platform had promise, but it would have taken a lot of work to make it competitive in the ADV segment.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
It could totally be an 'adventure commuter' – not an off roader, but something that could do light trails and bad roads. Missed opportunity for sure.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
The more I think about it, the more sense it makes. The 135 would have made a nice lightweight ADV that would have fit between scooters and full size adventure bikes.
Could the Discover 135 Sports have become the adventure tourer platform?
29 January 2025 07:48
While it’s a fun thought experiment, realistically Bajaj would have been better off developing a purpose built ADV platform. The 135 was great, but it wasn’t infinitely adaptable.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
Absolutely! The Discover 135 is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. This little beast has smoked so many overconfident riders on 'better' bikes. It’s all about the power to weight ratio and how you use it.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
Nope, it's pretty good but labeling it a sleeper is a bit much. It would be left in the dust by any modern 150cc bike. For its time, it was good, but let’s not get carried away with all the nostalgia.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
I wouldn’t call it the ultimate, it’s definitely underrated. It’s a peppy engine, but the brakes and suspension have budget roots. Great value, but not giant-killer material.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
I know, as a former owner, that it sneaks up on you. The real magic is the mid range torque, it pulls like a much bigger bike. Perfect for real-world riding conditions.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
It's less of a sleeper and more of a 'competent all rounder'. Commuting and some fun on weekends, but it's not going to embarrass sport bikes or anything for that matter.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
The Discover 135 is a sleeper! Mine has been around for years and it still surprises people. It’s not winning any beauty contests, but in the twisties it can hang with bikes twice its size.
Is the Bajaj Discover 135 Sports the ultimate sleeper bike?
29 January 2025 07:48
I think people mix up good value with ultimate sleeper. For the money, it’s a solid bike, but let’s be realistic about what it can do. It's not some hidden superbike.
