Volkswagen Polo Trendline
Volkswagen Variant
General information and overview
The Volkswagen Polo Trendline is a 5-seater hatchback known for its robust build quality and engaging driving dynamics. The latest version comes with a 1.0L TSI turbocharged engine, producing 110PS and 175Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. This combination provides a thrilling driving experience, especially noticeable once the turbo kicks in above 2400rpm. The car also boasts improved ride comfort, handling, and stability, making it well-suited for Indian roads. While it may lack in rear seating space and features compared to some competitors, the Polo Trendline excels in its core strengths performance, build quality, and driving pleasure. It is a solid choice for enthusiasts and those who value a premium driving experience in the hatchback segment.
Expert opinion and recommendation
The Volkswagen Polo Trendline, particularly the latest iterations, presents a mixed bag of improvements and compromises. On the positive side, the new 1.0L TSI engine, although less refined than its 4-cylinder predecessor, offers impressive performance with 110PS and 175Nm of torque, making it one of the quickest cars in its segment with a 0-100kmph time of just 9.66 seconds. The addition of a manual transmission enhances the driving experience, especially for enthusiasts. The ride comfort has also seen significant improvement, making it more compliant on Indian roads. However, the engine note is less appealing, and the car still lacks in rear seating space. Overall, it remains a solid choice for those who value driving dynamics and build quality, but may not be the best fit for those prioritizing rear space and a smoother engine.
Recent news and announcements
The 2024 Volkswagen Polo, which includes the Trendline, has regained several safety features that were previously removed due to semiconductor shortages. These include blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and proactive occupant protection. The Polo also comes standard with autonomous emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a reversing camera. I believe these safety features are a significant improvement and make the Polo a safer choice.
The Volkswagen Polo Trendline, although not explicitly mentioned in recent updates, is often aligned with the features of the Polo Life and Style models. For 2024, the Polo range has seen a facelift, including new front aprons, fog lamps, and LED daytime running lights, which could be inferred for the Trendline as well. The interior has also been enhanced with features like ambient lighting, 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I think these updates make the Polo look and feel more modern and appealing.
The Volkswagen Polo Trendline is likely to feature the same 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine as the Polo Life and Style, producing 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and is front-wheel drive. The fuel consumption is claimed to be 5.4 litres per 100km on the combined cycle. I think this engine provides a good balance between performance and efficiency.
The prices for the 2024 Volkswagen Polo range have increased, but specific pricing for the Trendline is not mentioned. However, the Polo Life starts at $29,490 (approximately Rs. 22.5 lakhs), and the Style starts at $32,540 (approximately Rs. 25 lakhs). If the Trendline follows a similar pricing structure, it would likely fall within this range. I believe the pricing is competitive given the features and performance.
There has been speculation that Volkswagen might introduce more variants of the Polo in the Indian market to cater to different consumer preferences. While there is no official word on the Trendline, the success of other Polo models suggests there could be a market for it. I think introducing the Trendline could help Volkswagen tap into a broader customer base.
Pricing details and changes
The Volkswagen Polo Trendline is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the Polo Trendline with the 1.0L TSI engine and manual transmission starts at around Rs. 6.99 Lakh. However, the on-road price can vary depending on the location and additional features, typically ranging between Rs. 8.5 Lakh to Rs. 9.5 Lakh. This pricing positions the Polo Trendline as a viable option in the premium hatchback segment, offering a balance of performance, build quality, and features. While it may not be the cheapest option, the value it provides in terms of driving experience and durability makes it a worthwhile investment for many buyers.
Fuel efficiency information
The mileage of the Volkswagen Polo Trendline with the 1.0L TSI engine is respectable, given its performance credentials. According to ARAI, the car offers a mileage of around 18.09 kmpl, though real-world figures are slightly lower, typically around 16-17 kmpl in city driving conditions. This makes it a reasonable choice for those concerned about running costs, especially considering its powerful and efficient engine. However, its important to note that actual mileage can vary based on driving habits and road conditions.

polo is best, stylish, attractive and has good performance
really awesome car..
The most beautiful car design of the decade.
Design looks attractive.
I have volkswagen polo tdi...car performance is little gud.....cause 3 cylinder engine which have no power,no pick up comparison maruti swift hyundai i20........i accept these all thing but the way of dealing of VW dealers is so bad they only make money that's it......man i m so mad about that......i make big mistake to buy that volkswagen car.....thats why i tell the people first do the enquiry form lots of people who owned VW cars..........thanks
VW, in India, has remained an automaker for the elite class till 2010. But surely, they had different plans for the Indian market. Models like Jetta and Passat could not help them establish the brand among the middle class Indians, for whom the Swifts and i10s were obvious choices. They had to come up with a small car that offers extremely good value for money, not compromising a bit on the VW quality standards. The Polo.
FACT: Dont buy because basically it can never be better than a Japanese car..
So dont expect any thing .. Try anf move up to a Japanese make .. Suzuki/maruti, Honda, Mitsubishi, nissan and Toyota ..as these cars company do a lot of research before they manufacture there cars.
Volkswagen only makes money....they don't care about customer saticfaction.........i don't like the dealing of volkswagen.....PLZ DON'T BUY THE VOLKSWAGEN
2 cool looks and nice road clearance and great pick-up.
