Tata Nexon XE

About
The Tata Nexon XE is the base variant of the popular Nexon compact SUV, but it still comes with a respectable array of features. It is available in both petrol and diesel engine options, each offering robust performance. The petrol engine is a 1.2-liter turbocharged unit, while the diesel is a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. The XE variant may lack some of the premium features found in higher variants, such as a sunroof or a 360-degree camera, but it still includes essential safety features like dual airbags and ABS. The interior is comfortable, although some users have noted that the fit and finish could be improved. The exterior design is sleek and modern, making the Nexon XE a stylish choice. Overall, it is a well-rounded vehicle that balances performance, safety, and affordability, making it an excellent option for those seeking a reliable compact SUV.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Nexon XE is a compelling option in the compact SUV segment, especially for those on a budget. While it may not be the most feature-rich variant, it still packs a punch with its robust engine options, including both petrol and diesel. The power delivery, particularly in the diesel variant, is impressive and handles well, even for those transitioning from petrol cars. However, some users have noted minor flaws in the fit and finish, which can be overlooked given the overall driving experience. The safety features, including a 5-star rating, are a significant selling point. For its price, the Nexon XE offers a great balance of performance, safety, and comfort, making it a solid choice for daily use.
Price
The Tata Nexon XE is priced competitively in the Indian market. As of the latest data, the ex-showroom price for the 2020 Petrol XE variant starts at around 6.95 lakhs in New Delhi, with on-road prices ranging from 7.86 lakhs, depending on the city. This pricing makes the Nexon XE an attractive option for those looking for a reliable and feature-packed compact SUV without breaking the bank. The on-road price includes additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, which can vary slightly from city to city. Overall, the pricing is well-aligned with the value it offers, making it a good investment for first-time car buyers or those on a budget.
Latest Updates
Saturday, 16 November 2024 05:07 PM The Tata Nexon XE variant is now eligible for year-end discounts in November 2024, with benefits up to Rs. 10,000. This discount includes cash discounts and exchange bonuses, making the entry-level model more affordable for buyers. I think this is a great time to consider the Nexon XE if youre on a budget.
Thursday, 24 October 2024 12:33 PM The Tata Nexon XE, along with other variants, benefits from the overall improvements in the 2024 model, including better fuel efficiency and updated transmission options. However, the XE variant retains its core specifications. I believe these minor tweaks enhance the overall driving experience without altering the XEs core appeal.
Wednesday, 09 October 2024 02:48 PM There has been no announcement from Tata Motors regarding the addition of new features or technologies to the XE variant specifically. The focus has been on higher variants and new models like the Nexon CNG. I think this stability in the XE variant is good for buyers who prefer a straightforward, no-frills option.
Thursday, 16 May 2024 11:51 AM Despite the launch of new variants and models, the Tata Nexon XE remains a popular choice due to its competitive pricing and essential features. It continues to be a strong contender in the sub-compact SUV segment. I think the XE variants enduring popularity is a testament to its value proposition.
Sunday, 12 May 2024 03:36 PM Tata Motors has introduced new entry variants for the Nexon, including the Smart(O) variant for the petrol engine, which starts at Rs. 7.99 lakh. Monday, 04 March 2024 02:51 PM The Tata Nexon XE and other variants have seen a minor update with the introduction of the 2024 model, but no significant changes have been made to the XE variant specifically. It still comes with the 1.2L turbo petrol engine and 5-speed manual transmission. I think the consistency in the XE variant is a testament to its reliability.
Tuesday, 30 January 2024 01:55 PM Tata Motors has not announced any major updates or changes to the Nexon XE variant in recent months, indicating that the current configuration is meeting market demands. The XE remains a solid option for those looking for a basic yet reliable sub-compact SUV. I believe the lack of changes suggests customer satisfaction with the current model.
Tuesday, 30 January 2024 01:51 PM The Tata Nexon, including the XE variant, has crossed the 6 lakh units production milestone, highlighting its popularity in the Indian market. This achievement underscores the models appeal and reliability. I think this milestone is a significant endorsement of the Nexons quality.
Tuesday, 03 October 2023 12:56 PM Tata Motors has discontinued several diesel variants of the Nexon, including the XE, XZ, XMA, and XZA+ (S) variants. However, the petrol XE variant remains available, offering a more affordable entry point into the Nexon lineup. This move could push more buyers towards the petrol options.
Wednesday, 20 September 2023 10:14 AM The Tata Nexon XE has been a part of the lineup since the models launch and continues to be a favorite among budget-conscious buyers. With its 1.2L turbo petrol engine and 5-speed manual transmission, it offers a good balance of performance and economy. I think the XE variant is an excellent choice for first-time car buyers.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 01:40 AM The mileage of the Tata Nexon XE is a crucial factor for potential buyers. The diesel variant generally offers better fuel efficiency, with users reporting around 19-20 kml on long tours and 14-15 kml in city driving. However, the petrol variants mileage can be a bit of a letdown, with some users reporting averages below 10 kml in city driving and around 15 kml on highways. This variability suggests that the diesel option might be more economical for those concerned about running costs.

4wd option

Malom Saring | 2 years ago

It would have been better if the Tata Nexon top variant was equipped with 4wd/AWD option. The features are very much ok and the 4wd/AWD, it would have been the best car in its segment.

Best Features: Bold new design

Pros: Good ground clearance, powerful engine with torque, wide tyres, infotainment systems, spacious interior, cool gloves box.

Cons: Not giving 4wd/AWD options

NEXON IS A REVOLUTIONARY CAR

Nitish Sharma | 3 years ago

This car is best among its rivals Maruti Vitara Breeza & Ford EcoSport and Honda WRV. Its engine is powerful than its rivals with 110 HP @ 3750 rpm & 260 Nm @ 1500 rpm. Infotainment system is a way better than its competitors. Music system is very good due to 4 speaker+ 4 tweeter combo by Harman Kardon and voice commands really works well. Seats are very comfortable and driver seat is having manual height adjuster mechanism. Driving modes are adjustable and Sports mode gives maximum power to the vehicle to rock the roads. Maximum speed of 180km/h is achieved using 'Sports' mode.

Best Features: Driving modes- City, Eco & Sport

Pros: Spacious seating, Powerful engine, soft clutch paddle and good infotainment system

Cons: Gear shift is on average scale
