About
The Tata Indigo e-CS Diesel LX is a sub-4 metre compact sedan that has been a staple in the Indian market for over a decade. It comes with a 1.4-litre CR4 diesel engine, producing 70 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle is known for its comfortable low-speed ride quality and decent bad road ability, making it suitable for semi-urban and rural areas. It features keyless entry, central locking, power windows, and a tachometer, among other amenities. However, it lacks modern safety features like airbags and has an outdated design both inside and out. Despite this, it remains a reliable and economical option, particularly for fleet operators and those seeking a basic, fuel-efficient sedan.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Tata Indigo e-CS Diesel LX, while showing its age, still holds some appeal, particularly for those prioritizing fuel efficiency and a comfortable ride. The vehicles 1.4-litre CR4 diesel engine, producing 70 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque, is its strongest suit, offering a smooth and frugal driving experience. However, it lacks in modern features and safety, with no airbags even as an option, which is a significant drawback. The interior and exterior design feel outdated, and the build quality is average. Despite these shortcomings, it remains a reliable choice for fleet operators and those seeking a no-frills, economical sedan. For private buyers, though, there are more modern and feature-rich alternatives available in the same price range.
Price
The Tata Indigo e-CS Diesel LX is priced in the range of Rs 5.09 lakh to Rs 6.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other taxes, the price can go up to around Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. From my perspective, the pricing is competitive, especially considering the fuel efficiency and the spacious cabin it offers. However, the lack of modern features and safety equipment might make it less appealing to some buyers who are willing to spend a bit more for a more contemporary and safer vehicle.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 09:03 PM
The Tata Indigo e-CS Diesel LX boasts impressive fuel efficiency, with an ARAI-certified mileage of 25 kmpl. In real-world conditions, you can expect around 16-17 kmpl in city driving and slightly better on highways. This makes it an excellent choice for those concerned about running costs and mileage. The fuel-efficient diesel motor is a significant advantage, especially for those who plan to use the vehicle extensively.
