The Skoda Rapid was updated with new features such as a reverse camera and 16-inch alloy wheels in 2023, in an effort to keep the model fresh amidst strong competition. These updates were part of Skodas strategy to maintain the Rapids appeal before its eventual discontinuation. I believe these additions were necessary to keep the Rapid relevant in the market.

Skoda India has discontinued the production of the Skoda Rapid, with the last stocks available only until the recently launched Matte Edition is sold out. This move is ahead of the debut of the Skoda Slavia. The Rapid was a significant model for Skoda in India, known for its driving pleasure and value for money. I believe this marks the end of an era for a car that was well-liked by many Indian drivers.

The Skoda Rapid received a limited edition update called the Rapid Matte Edition, which was launched in October 2021. This edition featured an exclusive carbon steel matte body color and interior upgrades like dual-tone tellur grey with black leatherette and Alcantara inserts. Mechanically, it remained the same as the standard Rapid. I think this was a nice way to give the Rapid a unique sendoff before its discontinuation.
