Latest Updates
Sunday, 15 July 2018 10:49 AM In July 2018, the Renault Kwid received a minor update, adding new features such as pretensioner front seat-belts, two additional USB sockets, a rear armrest, and a new grille. This update also introduced two new color schemes, enhancing the cars appeal in the Indian market. I think these additions were a step in the right direction to keep the Kwid competitive.
Monday, 01 August 2016 07:24 PM In August 2016, Renault introduced a more powerful 1.0-liter engine for the Kwid, which produced 50 kW (67 hp) of power and 91 Nm of peak torque. This engine upgrade was a significant improvement over the initial 799 cc unit, making the car more appealing to buyers looking for better performance. I believe this move helped in boosting sales and customer satisfaction.
Wednesday, 20 May 2015 12:31 AM The Renault Kwid was unveiled in India on May 20, 2015, by Renaults CEO Carlos Ghosn. Ghosn described the car as a game changer for Renault in India, highlighting its high localization of parts and extensive engineering by local Renault personnel. The Kwid was designed to compete with other small cars in the Indian market. I think the launch was a bold move to capture the Indian auto market.
Friday, 01 May 2015 06:20 PM The Kwid was developed under the project code BBA and was the first car to be based on the new CMF-A platform jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. It featured a high sitting position and a 180 mm ride height, making it stand out in its segment. This innovative platform was a key factor in the Kwids success.
Wednesday, 01 April 2015 03:06 PM The initial launch of the Renault Kwid included a three-cylinder, 799 cc engine with a 40 kW (54 hp) power output and 72 Nm of torque, coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The car was praised for its class-leading fuel efficiency and spacious boot space of 300 liters. I think the fuel efficiency was a major selling point for budget-conscious buyers.
Sunday, 15 March 2015 04:17 PM Renault emphasized the Kwids SUV-inspired design, featuring a stylish grille, arching roof rails, and high ground clearance. This design approach was aimed at giving the car a bold and rugged look, appealing to customers who wanted more than just a standard hatchback. I believe the design was a hit among young buyers.
Friday, 20 February 2015 07:44 PM The Kwid was equipped with advanced features for its segment, including a digital instrument cluster and a multimedia touchscreen. These features were uncommon in small cars at the time and helped the Kwid stand out in the market. I think these features were a major differentiator for the Kwid.
Thursday, 15 January 2015 04:20 AM The development of the Kwid was led by Gérard Detourbet, a senior engineer known for his innovative approach. The car was designed by an engineers team settled in India, reflecting Renaults commitment to local engineering and market understanding. I think this local focus was crucial for the cars success.
Monday, 01 December 2014 06:07 AM The Renault Kwid was aimed at competing with other small cars in the Indian market, such as the Suzuki Alto. It incorporated extensive localization of parts, with 98% of its components being locally sourced. This strategy helped in keeping costs low and making the car more affordable. I believe this was a smart move by Renault.
Saturday, 01 November 2014 02:37 AM The project to develop the Kwid began with a focus on creating a car that would be both affordable and feature-rich. The CMF-A platform was key to achieving this balance, allowing for cost-effective production without compromising on features. I think this approach set a new standard for budget cars.

I purchased the kwid on the 13th January 2016, since then I discovered different defects in due course. Mileage is too poor, only 16 kmpl, too much noisy, pickup is poor while ac is on, mostly plastic built etc.

Best Features: Looks, boot space, navigation, etc.

Pros: 1. Its cute and cool look. 2. The specified mileage in the Renault portal site. 3. Lastly the affordable price.

Cons: Poor Mileage, Poor Pickup
