General information and overview

The 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S, part of the 991.1 generation, redefines sports car excellence with its 3.8L twin-turbocharged flat-six engine producing 420 hp and 500 Nm, mated to a lightning-quick PDK gearbox for 0-100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and a top speed over 300 km/h. I love its rear-engine balance delivering neutral handling, exceptional grip from wide tires, and rear-axle steering for agile city threading on Indian roads. The low-slung 2+2 cabin seats four minimally, with supportive 14-way seats, a tachometer-centric dash, and Sport Chrono for track modes, though infotainment feels dated. Brakes are carbon-ceramic strong, suspension taut yet compliant, and options like PDLS lights enhance safety. In India, it's import-exclusive, boasting iconic looks, glorious exhaust, and daily drivability that makes every journey exhilarating—perfect for buyers chasing timeless performance over practicality.

The 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S, part of the 991.1 generation, defines rear-engine perfection with a 3.8-litre naturally aspirated flat-six pumping 420 hp and 500 Nm, mated to a seven-speed PDK for sub-4-second 0-100 km/h bursts and 300+ km/h top speeds. I relish its wider, longer chassis improving stability over the 997, with active suspension taming Indian roads while preserving that tail-happy balance for expert drifts. Weighing around 1,500 kg, it corners like it's on rails thanks to wide tyres and optional rear-axle steering, backed by massive brakes. The cabin seats four nominally—front 14-way adjustables hug perfectly low, rears for bags or toddlers—with leather, PCM infotainment, and a driver-focused dash topped by the rev-counter. In India, PDLS LEDs pierce monsoons, and the Sport Chrono pack sharpens shifts for track days at Buddh or Coimbatore. It's longer daily usable than rivals, with boot space for weekends, though fuel thirst and service needs demand commitment. This model's turbo-free engine sings gloriously, making every drive addictive—ideal for buyers seeking a liveable icon that outperforms most and ages gracefully.

Our Verdict

Expert opinion and recommendation

I find the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S a thrilling masterpiece that masterfully blends raw performance with everyday usability on Indian roads. Its 3.8L flat-six engine delivers 420 horsepower, propelling me from 0-100 km/h in under four seconds with the PDK transmission ensuring seamless shifts, while the rear-engine layout offers that signature 911 handling—planted grip in corners and reassuring stability at high speeds, even on our uneven highways. The carbon ceramic brakes provide phenomenal stopping power, and the chassis tuning makes it feel alive without being unforgiving. Inside, the driver-focused cockpit with 14-way adjustable seats and ergonomic controls feels premium, though the infotainment lags behind modern rivals—still, the analog tachometer and precise steering keep me engaged. In India, it stands out for its widebody stance in colors like sapphire blue, rear-axle steering for tighter maneuvers in traffic, and a subtle roar that enhances every drive. For buyers seeking a sports car that's also a liveable daily, this 991.1 Carrera S excels, delivering supercar thrills without compromise, making it my top pick for those prioritizing driving purity over gadgets.

I find the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S a thrilling benchmark in sports cars, blending raw performance with everyday usability that makes it irresistible for Indian enthusiasts chasing pure driving joy. Its 3.8-litre flat-six engine roars with 420 horsepower, delivering 0-100 km/h in under four seconds via the lightning-quick PDK transmission, while the rear-engine layout ensures planted handling through India's twisty ghat roads and urban chaos alike. I love how the chassis grips relentlessly, with rear-axle steering options enhancing agility, and carbon ceramic brakes provide unshakeable stopping power. The interior, though analog compared to modern rivals, wraps me in premium leather with intuitive controls centred on the tachometer, making long drives engaging. In India, its wide stance conquers potholes better than expected, and the low seating inspires spirited drives without fatigue. Drawbacks like limited rear seats for kids only and no Apple CarPlay don't detract from its essence—it's a daily driver that transforms highways into racetracks. For buyers prioritising emotion over gadgets, this 991.1 Carrera S delivers timeless Porsche magic, justifying its premium if you crave that flat-six symphony and corner-carving precision every time you twist the key.

Price

Pricing details and changes

In India, the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S carried an ex-showroom price around ₹1.59 crore in major cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Chennai, reflecting its premium positioning in the luxury sports car segment. On-road prices then pushed it to approximately ₹1.85-2 crore, factoring in 20-25% road tax, 12-15% insurance, high registration fees for high-value imports, and mandatory RTO charges that can add substantially in metros. I view this as a smart premium for what it offers—unmatched performance and resale value retention, often holding 60-70% of value after years due to Porsche's cult following and low depreciation in India. Compared to rivals like the Jaguar F-Type or BMW M4, it justifies the cost with superior build, turbocharged punch post-2015 updates, and exclusivity; pre-owned examples today hover at ₹1.2-1.5 crore, making it a compelling buy for enthusiasts. Running costs like high-octane fuel and imports inflate ownership, but for me, the investment pays off in pure joy and status, especially with Porsche India's certified pre-owned program ensuring reliability.

Mileage

Fuel efficiency information

I get around 8-10 kmpl in mixed Indian driving with the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S, dropping to 6-7 kmpl in spirited runs but stretching to 12 kmpl on highways if I ease off. Running costs are high at ₹200-250 per km due to 98-octane fuel needs and premium servicing, so if mileage tops your concerns, consider it a weekend toy rather than a daily—its thrills outweigh the expense for true enthusiasts.
December 23, 2025
I see the 2015 Porsche 911 Carrera S delivering 7-9 kmpl in mixed Indian conditions—highway cruising at 10-12 kmpl if restrained, dropping to 5-6 kmpl in city sprints. Running costs suit low-mileage owners at ₹1.5-2 per km on premium fuel, but high servicing offsets it; prioritise if performance trumps efficiency for spirited drives under 10,000 km/year.
