About
The Nissan Sunny CNG is a sedan that focuses on practicality and fuel efficiency. It is powered by a 1498cc petrol engine that also supports CNG, producing 97 bhp and 134 Nm of torque. The car comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and features like power steering, rear AC vents, and a comfortable ride. The Sunny has ample boot space of 490 litres and a turning radius of 5.3 meters, making it manageable in urban environments. While it lacks in terms of performance and modern design, it compensates with its spacious interior, good ground clearance of 165 mm, and the convenience of CNG fueling. The car also includes safety features such as ABS, EBD, and two airbags, though some might find the safety features a bit limited. Overall, its a solid choice for those seeking a reliable, fuel-efficient sedan for daily use.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Nissan Sunny CNG, while offering a practical and economical option for Indian buyers, has several drawbacks that need careful consideration. The engine, though efficient for city driving, lacks the torque and power compared to its 1498cc petrol counterpart, making it less appealing for those who value performance. The handling at slightly higher speeds is also a concern, and the cars design, both interior and exterior, is often described as old-fashioned and not very attractive. However, it does come with features like power steering, rear AC vents, and a comfortable ride, which are positives. Overall, its a car that is more suited for those prioritizing fuel efficiency and low running costs over performance and aesthetics.
Price
The Nissan Sunny CNG, although it has been discontinued, can still be found in the used car market. When it was available, the ex-showroom price ranged from around 7.07 lakh to 9.94 lakh, depending on the variant. On-road prices would typically be higher, including additional costs such as registration, insurance, and other local taxes, which could push the price up by another 1-2 lakh. For used models, prices vary widely based on the condition, mileage, and year of the car, but you can expect to pay anywhere from 3.25 lakh to 6 lakh. Its crucial to negotiate and inspect the vehicle thoroughly when purchasing from the used market.

The Nissan Sunny CNG, specifically the LXI CNG variant, has been priced at Rs. 4.33 lakh ex-showroom in New Delhi. This variant comes with a factory-fitted CNG kit, an air conditioner with heater, and ABS with EBD. Its a budget-friendly option for those looking for a CNG-powered sedan. I think this pricing makes it a competitive choice in the Indian market.

The Nissan Sunny CNG features a 796cc, 3-cylinder engine producing 40 horsepower and 60 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. This setup provides a fuel efficiency of 31.59 km/kg, making it an economical choice for daily commuting. The car also includes safety features like a driver-side airbag and reverse parking sensors. I believe the fuel efficiency is one of its strongest selling points.

Nissan has equipped the Sunny CNG with several convenience features, including power windows, internally adjustable ORVMs, and a manual air conditioner. However, it lacks some modern amenities like cruise control, steering-mounted controls, and a rear defogger. Despite this, it remains a practical option for those seeking a no-frills, budget-friendly CNG sedan. I think the absence of some features is a trade-off for its affordability.

The Nissan Sunny CNG has a spacious interior with ample legroom and headroom, along with a generous 177-liter boot space. The car also features fabric and vinyl upholstery and includes storage pockets and bottle holders, enhancing its practicality. This makes it a good option for families or those who need a reliable car for daily use. I believe the interior space is one of its key strengths.

Nissan has stopped the production of the Nissan Sunny, including its CNG variants, in India. The last recorded price of the Nissan Sunny was around Rs. 7.07 lakh, though the CNG variant was significantly cheaper. This move has left a gap in the market for affordable CNG sedans. I think this decision might push buyers towards other brands offering similar options.

In the past, Nissan had considered updating the Sunny with more modern features and possibly a facelift, but these plans seem to have been shelved with the discontinuation of the model. The Sunny CNG was known for its simplicity and fuel efficiency, which were its main selling points. I believe that if Nissan had updated it, it could have remained a strong contender in the market.

The Nissan Sunny CNG was popular among fleet operators and chauffeur-driven buyers due to its spacious rear seat and large boot space. It was also known for its low maintenance costs and reliable performance. Despite its discontinuation, it remains a sought-after model in the used car market. I think its reliability is a key reason for its enduring popularity.

Market speculation suggests that the discontinuation of the Nissan Sunny CNG might be due to the companys focus on more modern and feature-rich models like the Nissan Magnite. However, there is still a demand for affordable, fuel-efficient sedans like the Sunny CNG. I believe Nissan should reconsider bringing back a similar model to cater to this demand.
Friday, 15 March 2024 04:38 PM
The Nissan Sunny CNG had a simple yet effective design, with features like silver accents on the steering wheel and basic safety features like ABS and EBD. While it wasnt the most stylish car, its practical design made it appealing to many buyers. I think its understated design was part of its charm.

In 2017, Nissan had launched a special edition of the Sunny, which included some cosmetic updates and additional features. However, this did not include the CNG variant. The special edition was priced around Rs. 8.48 lakh, significantly higher than the CNG model. I believe that if they had offered similar updates for the CNG variant, it could have boosted sales.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 01:40 AM
The Nissan Sunny CNG offers respectable mileage, which is a significant factor for many Indian buyers. With an ARAI-certified mileage of around 18-22 kmkg, this car is quite fuel-efficient, especially for city driving. However, actual mileage can vary based on driving conditions, maintenance, and driving habits. For those concerned about running costs, the Sunny CNG is a viable option, especially for short to medium distance commutes.

Nissan Sunny CNG Discussion
Engine has too low torque and power compare to 1498cc engine, Handling is not good at slightly higher speed. Car looks very old fashioned, doesn't look attractive from exterior and interior. Over priced car and safety feature isn't enough, only 2 airbags!
