Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mitsubishi Cedia Select is a gem that often flies under the radar in the Indian automotive market. From my experience, this car stands out for its exceptional handling and driving pleasure. The 2.0-liter engine, though not the most powerful in its class, delivers ample torque, making it nimble and effortless to drive in both city and highway conditions. The interior is a highlight, with plush leather seats, a well-designed dashboard, and a Kenwood infotainment system that still sounds good by modern standards. The cars unique exterior design and sporty looks make it a head-turner on the road. However, its worth noting that the sales and after-sales service, which were once a concern, have been praised by many owners, particularly from dealers like Southern Motors in Bangalore. Overall, the Cedia Select offers a great balance of performance, comfort, and value for money, making it a solid choice for those looking for a fun and reliable sedan.
Price
The Mitsubishi Cedia Select was priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for this variant was around 8.90 lakhs. When considering the on-road price, you would need to add costs such as registration, insurance, and other taxes, which could bring the total to approximately 10.5 lakhs to 11 lakhs, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing made the Cedia Select an attractive option compared to other sedans in its segment, such as the Honda Civic and Skoda Octavia, especially given the features and performance it offered. The value for money was a significant selling point, with many owners appreciating the comprehensive package that included features like ABS, EBD, all-disc brakes, and leather upholstery.

Mitsubishi has decided to phase out the Cedia, including the Cedia Select, as part of its strategy to focus more on SUVs in the Indian market. This move marks the end of an era for the Cedia, which had a loyal following despite its limited sales success. I think this decision is a sign of the shifting consumer preferences towards SUVs.

In July 2012, Hindustan Motors introduced a new variant of the Mitsubishi Cedia, the Cedia Select 2012, priced at Rs. 8.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This variant came in three colors and featured several updates to keep the model competitive. The Cedia Select 2012 was aimed at reviving interest in the sedan. I believe this was a last-ditch effort to boost sales before the eventual phase-out.

The Mitsubishi Cedia Select was known for its unique design and handling. It grabbed attention on the road with its striking looks and was praised for its nimble and agile driving experience. The interior was also commendable, with soft-touch plastics and a clean design. I think the Cedias design was one of its strongest points.

In terms of performance, the Cedia Select came with a 1999 cc engine producing 114 bhp and 175 Nm of torque. It had a manual transmission and offered a mileage of 14.7 kmpl for the petrol variant. The engine, though reliable, was often criticized for being underpowered. I believe the lack of power was a significant drawback for this otherwise great car.
Mileage
Thursday, 21 November 2024 06:59 AM
The Mitsubishi Cedia Select offers respectable mileage, which is a crucial factor for many Indian buyers. The manual petrol variant is rated to deliver a mileage of 13.17 to 14.7 kmpl, according to ARAI standards. In real-world conditions, owners have reported mileage ranging from 11 to 12 kmpl in city driving with the air conditioner on, which is quite commendable. This makes the Cedia Select a viable option for those concerned about running costs, as it balances performance with decent fuel efficiency.

The car I have is a 2009 Mitsubishi media select ...The car is how do I put it.....Is a hoot to drive and dynamically sound but you need to should it with Goodyear eagle f1 gsd3 rubber to experience the full potential of the dynamic chassis .....Mileage is mediocre but can be lived with ...The best tuning needed is to fit it with performance filter and free-flow exhaust and some mild tuning will do for our conditions I owned it for almost a decade now and still in love with this car ...The spares are hard to find and servicing is ok...
Best Features: Looks pedigree and dynamics obviously engine is adequately powerful but is a heaven for tuners the legendary 4g63 sohc engine
Pros: The car is an agile handler has rally car dynamics inherent and looks good has good road presence. low nvh levels nvh
Cons: The mileage can be bettered and availability of service and spares is an issue
