About
The MG Comet EV is a unique and practical city car designed to excel in urban environments. Its compact size, just 2.9 meters long, makes it incredibly easy to park and maneuver through tight city spaces. The car features a clean and modern interior with a responsive touchscreen, connected car tech, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering is light and easy to handle, and the large windows provide excellent all-around visibility. The Comet comes with three drive modes Eco, Normal, and Sport which help in managing power and regeneration. While it lacks in high-speed performance and has some drawbacks like the absence of a creep function and driver seat height adjustment, it is well-suited for its intended purpose of city driving. The cars build quality, ease of use, and cost-effectiveness make it a strong contender in the Indian electric vehicle market.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The MG Comet EV is a mixed bag, but it excels in its intended role as a city car. From my experience, the Comets compact size and lightweight nature make it a joy to navigate through tight city spaces and heavy traffic. The cars build quality is impressive, with no rattles or squeaks even on rough patches, and the servicing is relatively hassle-free due to fewer moving parts. However, there are some notable drawbacks, such as the lack of a creep function, which can make driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic more challenging, and the absence of driver seat height adjustment, which can lead to an awkward seating position. The ride quality is firm and can be bumpy on rough roads, but it improves significantly on smooth roads. Despite these quirks, the Comets features, such as its connected car tech, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the pleasant interior, make it a compelling choice for city driving.
Price
The MG Comet EV in India is priced competitively, especially considering the current market and the incentives for electric vehicles. The ex-showroom price for the MG Comet EV starts around 8-10 lakhs, depending on the variant. When you factor in the on-road costs, including registration, insurance, and other charges, the price can go up to around 10-12 lakhs. Given the features and the cost-effectiveness of running an electric vehicle, this pricing is quite attractive. The recent discounts, such as the one offered in February 2024, make it even more appealing. Overall, the price is a significant selling point, especially for those looking for a stylish, convenient, and environmentally friendly city car.
Latest Updates
Sunday, 01 September 2024 07:12 AM
In a recent move, the Delhi government has decided to do away with free registration for electric cars, including the MG Comet EV. This change affects the on-road price, making it slightly more expensive for buyers in Delhi. The Pace variant, had it been available, would have also been impacted by this policy change.
Thursday, 07 March 2024 09:46 AM
MG Motor India has reshuffled and renamed the variants of the Comet EV, replacing the old Pace, Play, and Plush variants with new ones named Executive, Excite, and Exclusive. This change aligns the terminology with other models in the MG line-up. The Pace variant is no longer available in the market.
Thursday, 07 March 2024 03:29 AM
The 2024 MG Comet EV now supports 7.4 kW AC fast charging, but this feature is only available in the new Excite FC and Exclusive FC variants. The fast charging reduces the charge time significantly, but it was never an option for the Pace variant. I think this upgrade would have been a great addition to the Pace, making it more competitive.
Thursday, 07 March 2024 02:20 PM
The prices for the new variants of the MG Comet EV range from Rs 6.98 lakh to Rs 9.13 lakh. Since the Pace variant is no longer available, potential buyers will have to opt for the newer variants. I believe the pricing strategy is competitive, but it would be interesting to see how the market reacts to the absence of the Pace.
Saturday, 15 April 2023 09:49 AM
The MG Comet EV, including the former Pace variant, boasts dimensions of 2974mm in length, 1505mm in width, and 1640mm in height. Its design includes premium elements like LED head and taillamps, which were also features of the Pace variant. I think the design of the Comet EV is quite appealing and compact, making it ideal for city driving.
Monday, 10 April 2023 06:16 AM
The MG Comet EV, like its predecessor Pace variant, comes with basic safety features including dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, a reverse parking camera, and sensors. It also includes an electronic parking brake and electronic stability control (ESC). I believe these features are essential but could be enhanced for better safety ratings.
Wednesday, 05 April 2023 02:47 AM
The MG Comet EV, similar to the Pace variant, has a 17.3 kWh battery pack powering a rear-axle mounted electric motor that produces 42 PS and 110 Nm. It features three drive modes -- Eco, Normal, and Sport -- which were also available in the Pace variant. I think the drive modes are well-tuned for city driving, but the cars performance on highways is limited.
Saturday, 01 April 2023 08:29 AM
The MG Comet EV, including the former Pace variant, is available in several colour options such as Aurora Silver, Candy White, Starry Black, and Apple Green with a Starry Black roof. These colour options were also available for the Pace variant. I think the colour palette is quite vibrant and appealing.
Saturday, 01 April 2023 11:39 AM
The MG Comet EV was launched in April 2023, initially available in Pace, Play, and Plush variants. The Pace variant was one of the entry-level options and received positive feedback for its affordability and city-friendly design. I believe the initial reception was promising, but the variant changes might affect buyer preferences.
Monday, 20 March 2023 05:47 PM
The MG Comet EV, including the Pace variant, has a 17.3 kWh battery pack with 3.3 kW AC charging capability. The charging time from 0-100% takes about 7 hours with the 3.3 kW charger. I think the charging time is reasonable for daily use, but faster charging options would be more convenient.
Mileage
Monday, 18 November 2024 05:10 PM
The mileage of the MG Comet EV is quite satisfactory for city driving. Equipped with a 17.3kWh prismatic cell lithium-ion battery, the Comet claims a range of 230km on the MIDC cycle. In real-world city driving, you can expect a range of around 150-200km, depending on your driving style. Conservative driving can yield up to 180km, while using the heater or AC can reduce the range to about 120km. The charging time is reasonable, taking around 5 hours to go from 10-80 and 7 hours for a full charge. This makes it ideal for daily city commutes, especially with the convenience of overnight home charging. The efficiency and range make it a practical choice for urban use. It's a fantastic car for me and my wife, cute beautiful, high performance, luxury interior and as useful as we require, it's giving mileage 200 to 300 km depending of traffic conditions and driving style, yes it's giving more mileage than company claims, after 2 Months of friendship with comet I have never used my big car, at the last.
