Maruti Estilo (2013)
Maruti Model
General information and overview
I view the Maruti Estilo (2013) as a 5-seater hatchback succeeding the Zen, powered by a refined 998cc K10 engine (64-67 bhp, 90Nm) in petrol or CNG, paired with 5-speed manual for zippy 0-100kmph runs suited to India's chaotic streets. Available in LXi variants, it boasts AC, power steering, central locking, keyless entry, digital odometer, and rear headrests, blending practicality with essentials. Its tall-boy design offers good visibility, legroom, and boot space for families, plus stellar suspension absorbing bumps better than peers. Discontinued in 2013 after 2009-2013 run due to lukewarm sales despite updates, it excels in refinement—near-silent idle, ample storage—and owner-rated 4.0-4.5 for mileage, value, performance. Ideal used buy for city use, long drives up to 450km/day, and low upkeep; CNG shines in metros. I trust its durability for budget-conscious Indians seeking reliable, economical motoring without compromises.
The 2013 Maruti Estilo, my go-to for fuss-free Indian driving, succeeded the Zen with a taller stance, 998cc K10B petrol or CNG engine (64-67 bhp, 90 Nm), and 5-speed manual for zippy city sprints and stable 120 kmph cruising. I love its high seats for traffic view, roomy cabin for four, generous boot for weekend loads, and essentials like AC, odometer, keyless entry. Discontinued amid soft sales, it shines in reliability, easy Maruti servicing, and economy, though rear space and build quality lag premium hats. For used buyers, it's a smart pick at low prices with proven durability on potholed roads.
Expert opinion and recommendation
I find the Maruti Estilo (2013) a compact hatchback that punches above its weight in urban India, with its 998cc K10 petrol or CNG engine delivering peppy performance up to 67 bhp and smooth city drives, making it ideal for daily commutes in tight traffic. Its nimble handling, minimal body roll, and superior suspension over rivals like WagonR ensure confident maneuvering on pothole-ridden roads, while ample storage, perfect seating, and features like power windows, central locking, and AC keep family runs comfortable. Owners rave about its low maintenance, hassle-free upkeep, and value, scoring high on mileage and economy—petrol at 19 kmpl and CNG at 23.3 km/kg—which slashes running costs in fuel-conscious India. Though discontinued in 2013 due to modest sales, its refined engine refinement beats noisier alternatives, and boot space suits small families. For used buyers eyeing affordability under 5 lakhs on-road, I recommend it wholeheartedly for reliability and savings, especially CNG variants in high-fuel cities; just upgrade tyres for highway stability. It remains a smart, no-fuss pick that delivers joy without drama.
I find the Maruti Estilo 2013 a practical choice for urban Indian drivers seeking reliability without frills, though its discontinuation in 2013 due to modest sales reflects how it couldn't outshine rivals in excitement. With the peppy 1.0-litre K10B petrol engine delivering 67.1 bhp and 90 Nm torque, it offers nimble city handling and decent high-speed stability up to 120 kmph on highways, paired with a smooth 5-speed manual gearbox. I appreciate the high seating position that aids visibility in congested traffic, ample boot space for family groceries, and features like AC, power steering, and central locking that make daily commutes effortless. Maintenance is a breeze with Maruti's vast service network, keeping running costs low even today in the used market. However, the light steering feels vague at speed, interior plastics show age quickly, and it's not the most spacious for rear passengers on long drives. For budget-conscious buyers in India wanting a durable, low-ownership-hassle hatchback under 4 lakh ex-showroom back then, I recommend it strongly if mileage and service ease top your list, but skip if you crave modern safety or premium feel—it's a sensible workhorse that still holds value in 2025 used listings.
Recent news and announcements
Maruti Suzuki discontinued the Zen Estilo in 2013 due to poor sales. Despite its styling updates and the introduction of a new 1.0-litre K10 engine, the Estilo failed to gain significant market traction. The car was priced between Rs 3.19 lakh and Rs 4.25 lakh. I think the Estilos design, although updated, didnt quite resonate with Indian buyers.
The Maruti Zen Estilo was also available with a factory-fitted CNG kit, featuring Intelligent-Gas Port Injection (i-GPI) bio-fuel technology. This variant aimed to provide better mileage and lower emissions, with a price tag of Rs 4.05 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This move was a step towards more eco-friendly options in the market.
In the months leading up to its discontinuation, Maruti Suzuki introduced a new front grill design for the Zen Estilo to revamp its look. However, this cosmetic change was not enough to boost sales significantly. The Estilo remained a less popular choice compared to other Maruti models like the Alto and Wagon R.
The Zen Estilo was powered by a 998 cc engine, producing 67 bhp and offering a mileage of up to 19 kmpl. It was available in both petrol and CNG variants, catering to different consumer preferences. The cars performance was decent, but it lacked the appeal of other compact cars in the market.
Maruti Suzuki had high hopes for the Zen Estilo, positioning it as a successor to the popular Zen hatchback. However, the Estilo never managed to replicate the success of its predecessor. Despite its features like air conditioning, central locking, and keyless entry, it failed to attract a large customer base.

Fuel efficiency information
I rate the Estilo (2013) highly for mileage in India—19 kmpl petrol city/highway mix and 23.3 km/kg CNG—owners confirm real-world 18-20 kmpl petrol, dropping costs to ₹4-5/km versus rivals' ₹6+. Low maintenance amplifies savings; pick CNG for urban fuel savings, aiding buying if running costs top your list.
I rate the 2013 Estilo's mileage highly for Indian roads—up to 19 kmpl on petrol highways and 16.9 kmpl city, while CNG hits 25-28 km/kg for massive savings at Rs 80/kg vs petrol's Rs 100/litre. Low maintenance under Rs 3,000/service keeps running costs at Rs 2-2.5/km, ideal for daily 50km commutes; buy CNG if fuel bills worry you most.
