USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict

The Maruti Eeco Ambulance is a pragmatic choice for budget-conscious healthcare providers and NGOs needing a basic patient transport vehicle. Its strengths lie in its spacious interior, low running costs, and Maruti's extensive service network. The simple mechanicals make it easy to maintain and repair, especially in rural areas. However, potential buyers should be aware of its limitations. The Eeco Ambulance lacks modern safety features and creature comforts found in more expensive alternatives. The ride quality can be harsh, and NVH levels are high at higher speeds. It's best suited for urban and semi-urban use rather than long-distance highway travel. For those prioritizing affordability and practicality over refinement and features, the Eeco Ambulance remains a viable option in the Indian market.

Price

Maruti Eeco Ambulance Review

30 Sep, 2024 06:30 PM

Overview

The Maruti Eeco Ambulance is not just another vehicle; it is now a very practical emergency workhorse. There’s something about that vehicle—it’s not necessarily a luxury item—but it does exactly what it is supposed to do, and does it well. The Eeco scores on several fronts — from its spacious interior, to its solid fuel efficiency. Anyone who tends to prefer no frills when it comes to a medical provider definitely sees why this ambulance is a go to. Now, let’s break it down and see just what it is that actually makes this book stand out.

Key Takeaways

  • Roomy Interior: Inside the Eeco has ample space that means patients and medical staff aren’t cramped during emergency situations.
  • Performance You Can Count On: This thing is powered by a 1.2L engine and has enough juice for city driving and most highway driving, but is still very fuel efficient.
  • Safety Is Covered: Although the tech isn’t all that fancy, at least the airbags, seat belts, and strong braking systems are there.
  • Affordable: What I love about the Eeco is that it is in a reasonable price. It’s budget friendly and still doesn’t hold back on essential elements.

Maruti Eeco Ambulance Design and Exterior Features

Sleek and Functional Design

There’s no flash on the Maruti Eeco Ambulance design as much as function and that’s really what you need from an ambulance. It has that grille at the front with those horizontal slats and the clear lens headlights are another solid thing to keep you visible when you’re hitting the roads at speed. A nice touch, too, is the big air dam; even under heavy pressure, it keeps the engine cool.

Colour Options Available

I find interesting the range of color options. Along with white, ambulances are also available in Pearl Midnight Black, Metallic Glistening Grey, Solid White, Metallic Breeze Blue, Metallic Silky Silver, and Metallic Passion Red on the Eeco. I think it's nice to have these choices, when you get into an ambulance, even, it helps to have a bit of personality.

Exterior Build Quality

The Eeco is tough. You can tell this was built to last and that will give you reliability with daily use. The black bumpers and the 13in steel wheels are not just about looks, but they do up the toughness so it can handle bumps and scrapes of day to day operations. It’s practical, just like me.

Interior Comfort and Space

Spacious Cabin Layout

Interior space is one thing that strikes me with the Eeco. It’s roomy—like really roomy. That space to move around is so important for emergency personnel. It is all about comfort for patients, not a stressful time. I’ve ridden enough cramped cars to know that space is a big deal when it’s literally a matter of seconds between life and death.

Seating and Upholstery

It turns out that the seating here is practical with integrated headrests and recline options that actually come in extremely handy when you need to take a breather mid emergency. And the upholstery feels firm, which is always a nice bonus, considering this thing is going to see a lot of use. At least I know Maruti did not skimp on comfort in an ambulance.

Storage and Utility Features

Oftentimes good storage is more thoughtful than we lucky ones think. You can even fit everything, all the oxygen cylinder clamps and hooks for infusion mounting, and compartments for your First Aid kit in its own designated spaces. It’s functional, it’s practical, you need it in a vehicle like this, and it’s not the biggest thing you have.

Engine and Performance

Engine Specifications

The 1197cc K12N is no slouch. Yeah, you’re not looking to claim any prizes with an ambulance or anything, but this engine’s got enough umph to get the job done and that’s all you can ask for. 80.96 HP doesn’t sound like much, but for an ambulance it’s more than suffice. What I like about Maruti is the simplicity — there’s nothing too bloated here.

Fuel Efficiency

Currently, for me on fuel efficiency, in a fair show, will be the Eeco; it is a good 19.71 km/l for an ambulance, at a time when she is almost always on the road. This is obviously very efficient if you are managing a fleet. That’s a big selling point to me: practicality without having to constantly refuel.

FeatureSpecification
Power80.96 hp / 6000 rpm
Torque Max104.4 Nm @ 3000 rpm
Fuel Efficiency19.71 km/l

Safety Features

Passenger Safety Measures

The Eeco is fully safe with dual airbags and seat belts for everyone onboard. It’s also got a speed alert system, and I love that. Well, the fact is, that in an emergency, you want to go fast, but you know you don’t want to do so excessively and jeopardize your own safety.

Advanced Safety Technologies

On the safety front, ABS and EBD driven safety systems are also available in the tool kit of this vehicle from Maruti. I’m not a fan of adding extra buttons or complication, but in sticky situations having another layer of protection makes driving a little bit easier.

Build Quality and Durability

This thing is built to last thanks to solid frame and side impact beams. You have confidence with the Eeco – I know some vehicles that just don’t feel as sturdy. It’s good knowing it complies with offset crash standards also—nice peace of mind factor.

Medical Equipment: Amenities

Stretcher and Patient Comfort

I love the fact that the Maruti Eeco Ambulance gives so much attention to patient comfort. The spot to transport patients without a hitch is solid and steady, and that is the mono block stretcher. The molded rubber matting is also plus—they are easy to clean (that’s a biggie in a medical vehicle).

First Aid and Nursing Kit

A huge plus is that the First Aid kit and nursing kit will be easily accessible. Time is everything in an emergency and knowing that everything is where it should be is a game changer. It's obvious that Maruti has thought through the person who will use this vehicle.

Pricing and Value for Money

Price Range and Variants

I think the Eeco is great worth for what you get, at around ?8,27,000. It’s not coated with shiny bingals, but it’s easy to use and cheap, and that’s important when you’re running a fleet of ambulances. You’re getting all the essentials without the sky high bank bills.

Cost of Ownership

Another huge plus is that there are very low maintenance costs. The wide service network and fuel efficiency will ensure that you don’t have to keep on spending money to maintain this. It's a good price to pay versus functionality.

User Reviews and Feedback

Positive Reviews

And a lot of users like that the Eeco Ambulance is quite spacious as well as efficient. I can definitely agree with that, it is something that is important: space and practicality. Another great thing about it is that it’s fuel efficient which means even longer drives are easier.

Critical Reviews

People could some with the build quality on the inside. It’s durable, but it’s not exactly plush, so I can see where they are coming from. Some have talked about wanting additional advanced features, and though that sounds nice on paper, simplicity has worked just fine for me.

Overall User Satisfaction

End users are quite happy with Eeco Ambulance. In my opinion, it’s a good thing for anybody in need of a solid and affordable solution. Self explanatory 4.2 out of 5 rating does it for itself.

Conclusion

If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable and practical ambulance, Maruti Eeco Ambulance really excels. It’s not trying to be something it’s not—it’s a workhorse designed for one purpose: getting the job done. I honestly think that with a solid engine, great fuel efficiency and a roomy interior it is one of the better choices at its price range.

If you want a product that offers value for money and practicality in an ambulance, then the Eeco Ambulance will be a no brainer for me.

It's a big car at small amount. I bought my Maruti Omni in 2013 as I need a car that accommodate my whole family of 8 members(6 adults and 2 children). Though there are SUV's in the market for that purpose but my budget didn't allow me to buy one. Now, I am happy that my whole family fits happily in my Omni. In the terms of look though, it is simple but its a good deal in many other way. It comes with normal steering wheel but believe me it is too light to use. It provide good ride on the rough roads but on high speeds it loose balance sometimes. It has a good ground clearance and I am in love with such vehicles because it provides good ride quality. It returns me mileage of 13kmpl on city roads and 11kmpl on rough roads. On the other hand, safety is a question and gear shift quality requires improvement.

Best Features: Affordable Price

Pros: Price, Tall Seating position, Cabin,

Cons: No Power steering, Lack of rear AC vents.
