About
The Maruti Celerio X is essentially a more rugged version of the regular Celerio, designed to appeal to buyers looking for a micro-crossover stance in the compact hatchback segment. It comes with a 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT transmission. The car features a new front bumper, stylish side mouldings, rear bumper, roof rails, and new alloy wheels, giving it a distinct look. Inside, the Celerio X retains the same dashboard and interior space as the regular Celerio but adds body colour inserts and new seat fabric to enhance the aesthetic. Key features include power steering, power windows, an integrated audio system, Bluetooth, and dual airbags for safety. The 6040 split rear seats and a spacious boot make it a practical choice for daily use. Overall, the Celerio X combines the reliability and efficiency of the Celerio with a more rugged and stylish exterior, making it a viable option in its segment.

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Maruti Celerio X, the cross version of the regular Celerio, is a compelling option for those seeking a blend of ruggedness and practicality in the compact hatchback segment. My experience with the Celerio X has been positive, particularly in terms of its driveability and comfort. The 1.0-litre petrol engine, producing 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, is tractable and efficient, making it well-suited for city driving as well as occasional highway trips. The light clutch and smooth-shifting 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox enhance the driving experience. However, the engine can feel strained at higher revs, and road noise becomes noticeable above 80 kmh. The suspension is well-tuned, providing a comfortable ride even on rough roads. The interior, though not vastly different from the regular Celerio, offers ample space and practical features like the 6040 split rear seats. Overall, the Celerio X is a solid choice for those looking for a reliable, fuel-efficient, and feature-packed compact hatchback with a touch of rugged flair.
Price
The Maruti Celerio X is priced competitively in the Indian market, with ex-showroom prices starting from around Rs. 4.85 lakh and going up to Rs. 5.61 lakh, depending on the variant and transmission choice. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately Rs. 5.5 lakh to Rs. 6.5 lakh. Given the features and performance, the Celerio X offers good value for money, especially considering its fuel efficiency and the added aesthetic appeal of its cross design. However, the prices can vary slightly based on the state and local taxes, so its advisable to check with local dealers for the most accurate pricing.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio Cross: No Official Announcement Yet
Despite the popularity of the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, there has been no official announcement from the company regarding a Celerio Cross variant. However, the existing Celerio has seen significant updates, including new design and styling, and the addition of segment-first features like hill-hold assist and Idle Start-Stop technology. I think if a Celerio Cross were to be introduced, it would likely attract a lot of attention due to its potential rugged design and enhanced features.

High Demand for the New-Generation Celerio
The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio received around 15,000 bookings within a month of its launch, indicating high demand for the vehicle. This strong market response suggests that any variant, including a potential Celerio Cross, could also see significant interest. I believe the success of the current Celerio bodes well for any future expansions in the lineup.

Maruti Suzuki Focuses on Petrol Engines
Maruti Suzuki has stated that they will focus on petrol engines and avoid diesel engines due to the increasing costs associated with stricter emission norms. This decision could influence the powertrain options for any future variants, including a hypothetical Celerio Cross. I believe this strategy will help Maruti Suzuki maintain competitive pricing and efficiency in their vehicles.

New-Generation Celerio Launched with Enhanced Safety Features
The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio was launched in India with a host of new features, including ABS with EBD, speed alert system, driver and passenger seatbelt reminder, and rear parking sensors as standard across all variants. These safety upgrades could be a precursor to what might be included in a Celerio Cross if it is ever introduced. I think these additions significantly enhance the vehicles safety profile, making it a more attractive option for buyers.

Design and Styling Updates
The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio features vibrant and dynamic styling with a lively contour, distinct front grille, and headlamps. If a Celerio Cross were to be designed, it would likely build upon these aesthetic elements with additional rugged features. I think the current design language of the Celerio provides a solid foundation for creating a visually appealing cross variant.

When it comes to mileage, the Maruti Celerio X is quite efficient. It offers an ARAI-certified mileage of 22.61 kml for both manual and AMT versions. In real-world driving conditions, users can expect around 20-22 kml in the city and up to 18 kml on the highway. This makes the Celerio X an attractive option for those concerned about running costs, as it balances performance with fuel economy.
