The Maini Reva Standard is a compact, two-seater electric hatchback that was Indias first electric car when it was launched in 2001. Developed by Chetan Maini, it was initially produced by the Reva Electric Car Company before being acquired by Mahindra in 2010. The car features a 48V, 200Amp lead-acid battery, producing 17.4 bhp and 7 kgm of torque. It has a top speed of 65 kmh and a kerb weight of 740 kg. The interior, though cramped, has a friendly design with a swoopy dashboard and chunky controls. While it is commendable for its frugal engineering and environmental friendliness, the cars performance and comfort leave much to be desired. The vehicle is underpowered, taking 8.14 seconds to reach 40 kmh and 27.61 seconds to hit 60 kmh, which can be disappointing for those accustomed to conventional cars. However, its low running costs and the innovative use of technology, such as remote battery charging and smartphone app controls, are significant positives. The cramped interior and limited rear space make it more suitable for short trips and smaller families. Overall, its a good option for those prioritizing eco-friendliness and low operating expenses, but not ideal for those seeking performance or spaciousness.

The Maini Reva Standard was priced between 2.99 lakh and 3.89 lakh ex-showroom in India, depending on the location.
