USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Mahindra Thar Midnight Edition is a compelling choice for those seeking a robust, stylish, and capable off-road vehicle. User reviews highlight its impressive road presence, good build quality, and comfortable ride, even on rough terrain. However, its important to note that the Thar has some drawbacks, such as low mileage and bumpy rides on urban roads. Despite these, the vehicles performance, especially in off-road conditions, is highly praised. The Midnight Edition adds a touch of elegance with its unique color scheme and premium features, making it a desirable option for adventure enthusiasts and those who value both style and functionality.
Price
The Mahindra Thar Midnight Edition is priced competitively in the Indian market. The ex-showroom price for the Thar ROXX variants, which are closest to the Midnight Edition in terms of features, starts around Rs. 17.49 lakh for the RWD Diesel AT and goes up to Rs. 18.79 lakh for the 4WD Diesel manual. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from approximately Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 22 lakh, depending on the state and local taxes. This pricing makes the Thar a good value for money, especially considering its robust build, advanced features, and exceptional off-road capabilities.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 13 November 2024 05:14 PM Mahindra has announced plans to increase production of the Thar Roxx to reduce the waiting period, which currently stands at 9 to 15 months. This move is expected to benefit potential buyers of the five-door Thar. I think this is a positive step, as it shows Mahindras commitment to meeting demand.
Wednesday, 13 November 2024 03:36 PM Deliveries of the Thar Roxx variants with the Mocha Brown interior are set to start in January 2025. This interior theme is exclusive to the 4x4 versions of the SUV. I think this will add a nice touch of luxury to the off-roader.
Monday, 02 September 2024 12:29 PM The Thar Roxx is expected to be priced between Rs. 12.99 lakh and Rs. 22.49 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it to compete with the Force Gurkha five-door and the Maruti Suzuki Jimny. This pricing strategy seems competitive in the off-roader segment.
Monday, 02 September 2024 05:10 PM Mahindra is taking steps to minimize the impact of the Thar Roxx on the sales of the three-door Thar by not offering the 1.5-litre diesel engine in the five-door version. This gives the three-door Thar a price point advantage. I believe this is a smart move to maintain sales balance between the two models.
Monday, 02 September 2024 03:29 AM Mahindra has a total monthly production capacity of 9,500 units for both the Thar Roxx and the three-door Thar, with some flexibility to adjust production based on market demand. This capacity planning should help in managing the high demand for the Thar models.
Saturday, 06 July 2024 04:50 PM The Mahindra Thar Roxx, a five-door version of the Thar, is set to launch on August 15, 2024. It will feature updated design elements, including a new front grille and bumper, and will be longer than the three-door model by 300mm. I believe this extended length will enhance the vehicles practicality.
Saturday, 06 July 2024 05:21 AM The Thar Roxx will come with advanced features such as a fully digital instrument cluster, a large touchscreen infotainment system with a Harman Kardon audio system, and a 360-degree camera. The top-spec models will also include a panoramic sunroof and Level 2 ADAS. This sounds like a significant upgrade in terms of technology.
Saturday, 06 July 2024 06:58 PM Mahindra has confirmed that the Thar Roxx will be available with 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines, mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. The diesel unit will have both RWD and 4WD options. I think this engine lineup will cater well to different user preferences.
Saturday, 06 July 2024 04:57 PM The Thar Roxx will feature a new platform that is 40kg lighter and includes a multi-link rear suspension system with Frequency Dependent Damping technology, enhancing its off-road capabilities. This sounds like a significant improvement in terms of performance and efficiency.
Saturday, 06 July 2024 07:57 PM The Thar Roxx will have several exterior and interior updates, including new wheel designs, a two-tone paint job, and features like ventilated front seats and an auto-dimming IRVM. These updates should make the vehicle more appealing to potential buyers.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 02:01 PM The mileage of the Mahindra Thar Midnight Edition is a point of consideration for potential buyers. With a reported mileage of around 15.2 kmpl for the diesel automatic variants, it is not the most fuel-efficient vehicle. However, this is a trade-off for its powerful engine and off-road prowess. For those concerned about running costs, its essential to weigh the vehicles performance and features against its fuel efficiency.
