USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Lotus Emeya is a deeply impressive vehicle that marks a significant shift in Lotuss approach to car manufacturing. As someone who has had the chance to experience it, I can attest to its fantastic refinement, which is evident even at cruising speeds of 160kph. The powertrain is quiet, and road, tyre, and wind noise are remarkably well contained. The Emeyas ride comfort is exceptional, thanks to its air suspension that adjusts 1,000 times a second, making it feel surprisingly pliant despite its large size. The handling, though different from the traditional Lotus feel, still exhibits some of that magic, especially with the top-tier Emeya Rs active anti-roll bars and rear-wheel-steer. The interior is luxurious, with a KEF sound system, Alcantara and leather trim, and advanced features like a 55-inch HUD and electrochromic glass roof. While it may not align with the traditional petrolheads idea of a Lotus, it is a compelling addition to any multi-crore garage, offering a blend of performance, luxury, and refinement.
Price
The Lotus Emeya has been launched in India with an ex-showroom price starting at Rs 2.34 crore for the base Standard variant. This pricing positions the Emeya below the Eletre SUV, which ranges from Rs 2.5 crore to 3 crore. When considering on-road prices, you can expect to add around 10-15 to the ex-showroom price, depending on the state and local taxes, which would bring the total to approximately Rs 2.57 crore to Rs 2.69 crore for the base model. Given its luxurious features, advanced technology, and performance capabilities, the Emeya offers good value for those in the market for a high-end electric grand tourer.
Latest Updates
Tuesday, 02 July 2024 08:41 AM The 2025 Lotus Emeya is set to revolutionize the electric vehicle market with its impressive specs, including a 102-kWh battery pack and dual-motor all-wheel-drive, producing up to 905 horsepower. This powertrain allows the Emeya to go from 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds. I think this kind of performance will make it a serious contender in the luxury EV segment.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 05:27 PM Lotus has unveiled the Emeyas interior, which features a futuristic design with premium materials like faux-suede upholstery, nappa leather, and genuine aluminum trim pieces. The car also boasts a large 15.1-inch infotainment touchscreen and an optional 55.0-inch augmented-reality head-up display. The interior looks sleek and modern, which I believe will appeal to tech-savvy buyers.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 12:33 AM The Lotus Emeya will be available in three trims: the base Emeya, the sportier Emeya S, and the performance-oriented Emeya R. The Emeya R packs a whopping 905 horsepower and uses a two-speed transmission, similar to the Porsche Taycan. This trim structure suggests Lotus is targeting a wide range of buyers, from those seeking comfort to those craving high performance.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:28 AM Lotus has confirmed that the Emeya will have a driving range of approximately 260 to 315 miles on a single charge, depending on the trim and driving conditions. This range is competitive with other luxury EV sedans like the Audi e-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. I think this range will be sufficient for most daily drivers.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 08:04 AM The Emeya is built on the Electric Premium Architecture (EPA) platform, an upgraded version of Geelys SEA platform. This platform is shared with other cars from the Geely conglomerate, such as models from Zeekr and Polestar. This shared technology could help in streamlining production and enhancing performance.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 03:25 AM Lotus has announced that the Emeya will feature rapid DC fast-charging capabilities of up to 350 kilowatts, which is impressive for an EV in its class. This fast-charging capability will significantly reduce charging times, making long trips more practical. I believe this feature will be a major selling point.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 05:04 PM The Lotus Emeyas design is a departure from the traditional Lotus sports cars, with a larger and heavier build compared to its predecessors. Despite its size, the Emeya is designed to be highly aerodynamic, employing moving wings and other aero aids. I think the design will be polarizing, but it certainly stands out.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 05:50 AM The Emeya is expected to be priced around Rs. 80 lakh to Rs. 1 crore, depending on the trim and options chosen. This pricing puts it in direct competition with other luxury EV sedans. Given its performance and features, I think it will be a compelling option for those in the market for a high-end EV.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:20 PM Lotus has not yet confirmed whether the Emeya will be available in India, but given its global rollout plans, its possible that Indian buyers might see this car in the future. If it does come to India, it would likely face stiff competition from other luxury EVs entering the market.
Tuesday, 05 December 2023 01:52 PM The Lotus Emeyas production is set to start in 2024, with the car expected to hit North American markets as a 2025 model. This timeline suggests that other global markets, including potentially India, might see the Emeya in the near future. I think the anticipation for this car is building up nicely.
Mileage
Friday, 17 January 2025 05:30 AM The Lotus Emeya offers a respectable range, especially considering its performance credentials. The standard variant has a WLTP range of 610km, while the S and R variants offer 540km and 435km respectively. With a 350kW DC fast charger, you can top up the battery from 10-80 in just 18 minutes, which is quite convenient for long drives. This range and charging capability make the Emeya a viable option for those concerned about mileage and running costs, especially given the rising costs of fuel and the environmental benefits of electric vehicles.

Discussions and Questions Lotus Emeya

Is the Emeya too techy and luxurious for Lotus to achieve its own minimalist philosophy?
23 January 2025 11:49
The minimalism was never about cheapness, it was always about performance. It’s still true to Lotus if the tech makes it faster or handle better.
Is the Emeya's design language a Lotus, or is it just too generic?
23 January 2025 11:49
I think it's gorgeous. Futuristic, sleek, with a bit of Lotus flair still. There’s no way to expect it to look like an Elise, folks.
Can a luxury EV upstart like the Emeya compete with established luxury EV makers like Tesla and Porsche?
23 January 2025 11:49
Lotus is one of those companies that, if anyone can shake up the EV game, it is. Punching above their weight is something they’ve always done.
Will the Emeya be the thing that helps Lotus survive, or is it a last ditch effort to alienate core fans?
23 January 2025 11:49
It's a smart move. The Emeya will also be used to bring in cash to fund development of proper sports cars.
Is the Lotus Emeya still a car that simplifies, then adds lightness?
23 January 2025 11:49
I think they're trying to toe the line. Even though the Emeya is heavy, it's still a performance and handling focused car. Though, it’s just adapted to the modern era.
