Introduction

The Jeep Compass, which was introduced in April 2017, is one of the most premium options in India's mid-size SUV segment. Since July 1, 2017, this SUV has been manufactured at FCA India's Pune facility. In addition to producing for the Indian market, Jeep ships the Indian-made Compass to numerous right-hand drive nations, including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Brunei, Japan, Indonesia, Nepal, and Thailand. The Jeep Compass got off to a flying start in India thanks to the Jeep brand's strong value and the fact that the Compass was the most economical model from the American carmaker. Jeep Compass Design and Style

To start with the design and styling, the new Jeep Compass boasts projector headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights up front. Jeep Compass Engine and Gearbox

The manufacturer has offered the Compass with two engine options: 1.4L multiair petrol and 2.0L multijet II turbo diesel. The 1.4-litre, 1368cc, 4-Cylinder Inline, 4-Valve, DOHC Petrol Engine churns out 160 HP and 250 Nm when coupled to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT transmission. The second is a 2.0-litre Multijet II, 1956cc, 4-cylinder, 4-valve diesel engine that is capable of generating 168 HP and 350 Nm when mated to a 6-speed manual or 9-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep Compass Interior, Instrument Cluster & Boot Space

On the inside, 2024 Jeep Compass gets a dual-tone black/beige interior. The dashboard is made entirely of soft-touch materials, lending the SUV a luxurious appearance. The seats are upholstered in leather, and the centre console has a huge infotainment display in a gloss black finish, adding to the premium feel.

The front seats are fairly supportive, although the padding is not very soft. The rear seats are also pretty comfortable, with ample legroom and headroom. But because the Compass SUV isn't as broad as some of its rivals, three people in the back may be a squeeze.

2024 Jeep Compass comes equipped with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster that can be configured to display all of the information, including tyre pressure monitoring. The 438-litre boot space allows you to carry a good amount of luggage.

Jeep Compass Brakes, Suspension & Tyres

Braking duties in the new Jeep Compass are handled by disc brakes at both rear and front while the suspension is done by McPherson Strut with Lower Control Arm at the front and Multi-Link Suspension with Strut Assembly at the rear. As for the wheels, the SUV rides on 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels depending on the variant. The 17-inch alloy wheels are outfitted with 215/65 size tyres while the 18-inch wheels are clothed with 225/55 size tyres.

As far as passenger safety is concerned, the new Jeep Compass comes loaded with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC, all-season tyres, 360-degree Parkview rear camera, auto hold, electronic parking brake, traction control, reverse park assist sensors, electric roll mitigation, front passenger seat belt alert, rear wiper and defogger, ISOFIX child seat anchors, active turn signals, hill start assist, occupant detection system, double crank prevention system, dual-note electric horns and more.

Jeep Compass Top Speed, Acceleration & Mileage

2024 Jeep Compass Sport variant offers the top speed of 190 kmph. It accelerates from 0-100 km/h within 11.5 seconds. The 2.0L Multijet II diesel engine, 4x2 drive offers a mileage between 16-17.1 kmpl while the 1.4L Multiair petrol engine, 4x2 drive offers mileage figures between 13-14.1 kmpl. However, fuel efficiency depends on highways or city traffic as well as driving style.

The SUV has offered in seven vibrant colours named Techno Metallic Green, Exotica Red, Grigio Magnesio Grey, Bright White, Galaxy Blue, Minimal Grey and Brilliant Black.

As for pricing, the new Jeep Compass Sport variant starts at an ex-showroom price of Rs 18.99 lacs, Compass Longitude starts at Rs 24.83 lacs, Limited variant starts at Rs 26.33 lacs, top-end Model-S starts at Rs 28.33 lacs. Now, to understand the difference between ex-showroom and on-road prices, the ex-showroom price of a car is the sticker price that does not include the cost of road tax, insurance, and registration. The on-road price, on the other hand, includes the previously mentioned costs as well as the cost of insurance, RC, one-time road tax, extended warranty, and all accessories purchased for the vehicle. However, if you are looking for an affordable car, then you can go for other compact SUVs on the market.
