Hyundai Verna Petrol

About
The 2023 Hyundai Verna is a significant upgrade in the midsize sedan segment, offering a blend of performance, comfort, and features. The car is powered by two petrol engine options a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, the latter being the most potent in its class with 160hp and 253Nm of torque. The turbo-petrol engine is available with both a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT transmission. The Verna boasts a spacious cabin with premium features, including a large 528-litre boot, making it highly practical. Its design is striking, with a fastback-style roof and muscular rear haunches, although it may not appeal to everyone. The ride quality has been improved, offering a more comfortable and supple ride compared to its predecessor. Overall, the Verna is a well-rounded package that caters to both city and highway driving, making it a strong contender in its segment.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The 2023 Hyundai Verna petrol, particularly the SX(O) TurboDCT variant, is a standout in the midsize sedan segment. My experience with this car has been nothing short of impressive. It balances daily usability with a punchy performance, thanks to its 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that delivers 160hp and 253Nm of torque. The DCT transmission is smooth and refined, making it a joy to drive in both city and highway conditions. The cars design, though polarizing, grows on you, and the cabin is loaded with premium features and ample space. Despite the absence of a diesel option, the turbo-petrol engines efficiency and performance make it a compelling choice. Overall, the Verna feels premium, is comfortable, and makes a strong statement for its owners.
Price
The 2023 Hyundai Verna petrol is priced competitively in the Indian market. The base 1.5 MPi petrol variant starts at around Rs 10.90 lakh (ex-showroom), while the top-spec SX(O) with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine and DCT transmission is priced at Rs 17.42 lakh (ex-showroom). On-road prices vary by state but generally add another Rs 1-2 lakh depending on the states taxes and other charges. For instance, in Delhi, the on-road price for the top-spec SX(O) TurboDCT could be around Rs 19-20 lakh. Given its feature-packed interior, class-leading boot space, and strong performance, the Verna offers good value for money.
Mileage
Friday, 22 November 2024 03:48 PM When it comes to mileage, the Hyundai Verna petrol delivers reasonably well. In real-world conditions, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with DCT transmission returns around 12-13 kmpl in mixed driving, with city usage yielding about 9-10 kmpl and highway driving around 14-15 kmpl. While these figures are not the highest, they are respectable given the cars performance and features. This makes the Verna a practical choice for those who prioritize both power and fuel efficiency.

Hyundai Verna petrol (2014 model) vs. Honda City VX diesel (2015)?
29 December 2022 05:41

The 2014 Verna 1.6 SX would be a winner if considered from the performance point of view. It comes with a much responsive 1591 cc, 4-cylinder petrol motor producing 121.4 BHP @ 6300 rpm and 154.94 NM @ 4200 rpm. The Verna comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox and returns a 13-14 kmpl mileage. On the other hand the Honda City diesel VX diesel is a mileage oriented car with 25.1 kmpl of certified mileage. The Honda City comes with a 1.5 L engine producing 98.6 BHP @ 3,600 rpm and 200 NM @ 1,750 rpm. It gets a 6-speed manual transmission. The Verna would easily get away with its high power output whereas both will compete tough on the top speed end.
