About Hummer

Know more about Hummer

Hummer was basically a Military vehicle M998 Humvee. In 1992, AM General made civilian version of Humvee. General Motors (GM) purchased AM General in the year 1998.GM marketed three vehicles. The first one is based on Humvee, the original Hummer named H1. The other models H2 and H3 are based on civilian market. GM was responsible for branding and marketing of the vehicles manufacture by AM General.

During the 2009 bankruptcy, Hummer was retained by GM. A Chinese manufacturer was interested in acquiring the company and finally dropped acquisition plans in 2010. Since inventories were depleted and dealers were closing, GM has finally stopped the production in 2010.  There were many criticisms because of its design and built up. The first criticism was regarding size. Because of its size there were parking problems, driving and fitting in a garage. Without diesel engine variant, hummer had a very poor fuel economy increasing the running costs. It even lacked some of basic safety features as it was originally designed for military use.

Discussions and Questions Hummer

What is the coolest mod you have seen on a Hummer H2?
28 January 2025 09:03
The coolest mod, actually, was actually subtle, a fully custom interior with hand stitched leather and a sick audio system. This made the H2 true luxury vehicle.
Why is there so much hate for Hummer H2 owners?
28 January 2025 09:03
I know this because I was once a H2 owner, and the attention gets old fast. You’re always defending your choice of vehicle because people either love it or hate it.
How bad is the Hummer H2 off road, as people claim?
28 January 2025 09:03
The H2 is honestly way more capable than people give it credit for. I have put mine on some truly gnarly trails and it has never let me down. Yeah, I guess it's not as nimble as a Jeep, but with the torque and the ground clearance — it more than makes up for it.
So, what’s with the Hummer H2’s fuel economy?
28 January 2025 09:03
The fuel economy criticism I think is valid. Vehicles like the H2 are the kind of mentality that is quickly becoming yesterday’s news in a world that is increasingly climate conscious.
Is the Hummer H2 a reliable daily driver?
28 January 2025 09:03
The size is a pain in tight parking lots, but it’s surprisingly comfortable for daily use. If you have to park and plan your routes, you definitely need to do this in advance.
