Latest Updates
Friday, 30 November 2018 06:21 AM The Punto Evos market presence continued to decline as the model aged, with no direct successor announced until much later. The cars production eventually ended in November 2018, marking the end of an era for the Punto in India.
Friday, 30 November 2018 05:06 AM Despite its eventual discontinuation, the Punto Evo remained known for its robust engine and handling capabilities. However, the high cost of maintenance, particularly the need for frequent brake pad replacements and timing chain replacements, was a recurring concern for owners. I believe these costs could have been better managed with more efficient design choices.
Thursday, 29 December 2016 12:42 AM In the Indian market, the 2016 Punto Evo was criticized for its limited safety features, with ABS and dual airbags not being standard across all variants. This was a significant oversight given the increasing emphasis on safety in the automotive industry. I believe this was a critical mistake that impacted consumer trust.
Thursday, 29 December 2016 06:48 AM By the end of 2016, the Punto Evos sales were dwindling, with only 20-30 cars being dispatched from the factory each month. This decline highlighted the models struggle to remain relevant in a competitive market. The lack of a strong marketing push and the absence of a dealership in major cities like Mumbai further exacerbated the issue.
Thursday, 29 December 2016 06:24 PM The Punto Evos handling and ride quality were still praised, with the cars chassis and steering feel remaining among its strong points. However, the additional power in the 90 hp model raised concerns about potential alignment issues with the standard 14-inch wheels and 165/80 R14 tires. Upgrading to 15-inch wheels and 195/60 tires was recommended to mitigate this issue.
Saturday, 23 July 2016 02:38 AM In 2016, Fiat introduced the Punto Evo with significant updates, including the replacement of the 1.3 75 bhp multijet engine with a 90 hp motor as standard across all variants. This change improved throttle response and reduced turbo lag, making the car more driveable in city conditions. The new model also featured a 5-inch touchscreen audio system with navigation, aux-in, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, aligning with Indias digital India initiative.
Saturday, 23 July 2016 06:16 PM The 2016 Fiat Punto Evo saw the discontinuation of the petrol-only variants, with the exception of the 1.2 68 bhp Dynamic model. Safety features like ABS were only standard on diesel Dynamic and Emotion variants, while dual airbags were exclusive to the top-end Emotion model. This lack of standard safety features across all models was seen as a missed opportunity.
Saturday, 23 July 2016 08:18 AM The Punto Evos design, though updated, still retained its classic look, but the facelift was met with mixed reactions. Some preferred the timeless design of the older Grande Punto, while others appreciated the new interiors and improved ergonomics of the Evo. However, concerns about high maintenance costs, particularly the timing chain replacement every 60,000 km, were raised.
Saturday, 23 July 2016 07:52 PM Despite the improvements, the Punto Evo faced challenges in the market due to its aging platform and lack of comprehensive safety features. The cars pricing, although competitive with discounts, was still a concern as it was cheaper than but less equipped than its competitors. I think Fiat could have done more to innovate and stay ahead in the market.
Saturday, 23 July 2016 08:58 AM In terms of technology, the 2016 Punto Evo marked a significant upgrade with the introduction of a 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the outdated Blue and Me system. This new system included navigation, aux-in, USB, and Bluetooth connectivity, making it more modern and user-friendly. I think this was a step in the right direction for Fiat.
