Fiat Avventura

Fiat is one of the oldest and successful groups in Europe. FIAT stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino, which translates into Italian Automobile Factory of Turin. The company has launched a new hatchback-SUV crossover called the 'Avventura' on 21 October, 2014. It was showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year. Let us take a closer look at the features and specifications of this hatchback crossover.

Exterior

Fiat Avventura has undergone some mechanical tweaks to give it the derivability to back the aggressive looks. Its ride height has been increased to give it some offroading ability. On the cosmetic front, the car has got certain noticeable features including, the front and rear bumpers, tweaked front grille, an extensive body cladding and scuff-plates that imparts rugged looks to it. The tailgate-mounted spare wheel serves as a key element in the Avventura’s design. The 16-inch alloy wheels and roof-rails enhances the overall appeal of the car.

Interior

The interiors of car are quite good. The dashboard layout of Avventura is inspired from the Punto but has got a new dual-tone shade. The centre console is stacked with three new gauges including the inclinometers and digital compass that show the incline difference of up to 40-degrees. The boot space of 280-litres lets you to experience a new feel while the overall seating arrangement remains unchanged. The top trims of hatch-SUV has got a long list of features including, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, functional roof rails, 60:40 split rear seats, dashboard ambient lighting, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rear parcel shelf, luggage lamp, power outlet, speed limit warning, remote boot release, clutch foot rest, power windows with delay and auto-down function, power steering and steering wheel mounted audio controls for the comfort of users. Among the standard features comes the MID screen on the instrument cluster while there is a provision of a dead pedal on the crossover.

Music System

The Avventura comes with a multi-information display (MID) and music system which supports MP3 playback, USB, Aux-in, CD player, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, Blue & Me voice recognition and SMS Readout. There is a speed sensitive auto-volume function which automatically adjusts the volume of speakers.

Dimensions and Fuel Tank Capacity

The car comes with a length of 3989 mm, width of 1706 mm and a height of 1542 mm as its dimensions. The petrol variants has a Kreb weight in the range of 1,190-1,195 kg while the diesel variants weighs little more with 1,240-1,255 kg range. The Avventura comes equipped with a fuel tank capacity of 45-litres which gives you a decent range.

Engine and Gearbox

The Hatch-SUV is available in both petrol as well as diesel engine options. The 1.4-liter, 16 valve, DOHC, four-cylinder petrol engine generates a maximum power of 88.73 Bhp at 6000 rpm and a maximum torque output of 115 Nm made at 4500 rpm. While the 1.3-liter, 16 valve, DOHC, four-cylinder diesel pumps out a peak power of 91.69 Bhp at 4000 rpm and a peak torque of 209 Nm of torque at 2000 rpm. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.

Mileage and Acceleration

The ARAI certified mileage for the petrol variant is 14.4 kmpl while the diesel one gives you a higher mileage of 20.5 kmpl which is also ARAI certified. The petrol trim can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 13.89 seconds and the diesel trim in 14.64 seconds.

Brakes and Suspension

The braking system comprises of disc and drum brakes at the front and rear respectively. The suspension duties are handled by front Independent McPherson Struts, Helical Coil Springs, Double Acting Telescopic Dampers and Stabilizer Bar and rear Torsion Beam, Helical Coil Springs and Double Acting Telescopic Dampers. Both of these work smoothly and effectively.

Safety Features

The top trims of Avventura comes equipped with dual front airbags, Anti-lock braking system (ABS), 3-point ELR front seatbelts along with pre-tensioners, seatbelt reminder and height adjustability feature, engine immobilizers, central locking, self locking doors and fire prevention system (FPS) .

Variants

The Avventura is available in three variants: Active, Dynamic and Emotion. While the Emotion will be available in the Diesel trim only.
