Datsun on-DO Petrol

About
The Datsun GO is a compact hatchback designed to cater to the needs of budget-conscious buyers in India. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67-76.43 bhp and 104 Nm of torque, depending on the transmission. The car is available with both manual and CVT transmission options, with the CVT variant offering a smoother and more effortless driving experience. The GO features a spacious cabin with Anti-Fatigue Seats that provide good comfort, although there are some limitations such as the lack of height adjustment for the drivers seat and non-adjustable steering wheel. The car also comes with modern amenities like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, and electrically adjustable ORVMs. Safety features include dual airbags as standard, which is a significant improvement over earlier models. Overall, the Datsun GO is a practical choice for those seeking a reliable, spacious, and feature-packed entry-level hatchback.

USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Datsun GO, while being an entry-level hatchback, offers a mix of positives and negatives that potential buyers should consider. On the positive side, the GO boasts a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that provides decent power and torque, making it quicker than some of its competitors. The car also features a spacious interior, a large 265-liter boot, and comfortable ride quality, especially in urban settings. However, the GO falls short in terms of interior quality, with evident cost-cutting measures, poor NVH levels, and lack of essential safety features like ABS and airbags in earlier models, although dual airbags are now standard. The CVT variant offers a smooth and jerk-free ride, but high-speed performance is not its forte. Overall, its a good option for city driving and first-time car buyers, but it needs improvements in several areas to compete strongly in its segment.
Price
The Datsun GO is priced competitively in the Indian market, with ex-showroom prices ranging from approximately Rs. 4.5 to Rs. 6.5 lakhs, depending on the variant and location. On-road prices, including taxes and other costs, can range from around Rs. 5.5 to Rs. 7.5 lakhs. This pricing makes the GO an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers looking for a reliable and spacious hatchback. However, the price difference between variants can be significant, so its crucial to weigh the additional features against the cost. For instance, the CVT variant, which offers a more refined driving experience, comes at a premium but still remains within the affordable range for many Indian buyers.
Latest Updates
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 09:34 AM The Datsun on-DO, although primarily targeted at the Russian market, has been a subject of speculation for its potential launch in India. However, as of now, there are no confirmed plans for its Indian debut. The car is known for its robust design and a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing 87 hp. I think its absence in the Indian market is a missed opportunity, given the demand for affordable sedans.
Monday, 28 May 2018 11:45 AM User reviews of the Datsun on-DO, though limited, highlight issues such as poor service and reliability concerns. These are critical areas that Datsun would need to address if the car were to be launched in India, where customer service and reliability are key factors in purchasing decisions.
Monday, 28 May 2018 12:03 PM The Datsun on-DOs mileage is estimated at 20.63 kmpl, which is competitive in its segment. If launched in India, this fuel efficiency would be a significant selling point, especially in a market where fuel costs are a major consideration.
Monday, 28 May 2018 08:58 AM The expected price of the Datsun on-DO in India, if it were to be launched, is speculated to be around Rs. 5 lakh. This pricing would place it in a highly competitive segment, where it would need to offer compelling features to stand out. I think the cars design and features could make it a strong contender if priced correctly.
Tuesday, 26 September 2017 09:37 PM Despite its promising features, the Datsun on-DO has not been announced for an Indian launch. Instead, Datsun has focused on other models like the GO+ MPV and the redi-GO in the Indian market. This strategy suggests that Datsun is prioritizing other segments over the sedan market in India.
Friday, 04 April 2014 07:53 AM In Russia, the Datsun on-DO has been well-received for its spacious interior and large boot space of 530 litres. The car is priced attractively below 400,000 Roubles, which is approximately Rs. 6.8 lakh, making it a competitive option in its segment. If it were to be launched in India, it could potentially rival cars like the Maruti S-Presso and Maruti Alto K10.
Friday, 04 April 2014 09:03 AM The Datsun on-DO was designed in Japan at the company’s advanced Global Design Center and engineered specifically for Russian conditions by a team of engineers from AVTOVAZ. This blend of global and local inputs has made the car modern and reliable, traits that could be beneficial in the Indian market as well.
Friday, 04 April 2014 02:49 PM Carlos Ghosn, Nissan Motor President and CEO, highlighted during the launch of the Datsun on-DO in Russia that the brand aims to triple sales in the country over the next three years. While this ambition is focused on Russia, it shows the brands commitment to expanding its market presence, which could have implications for other regions, including India.
Saturday, 05 April 2014 12:09 AM The Datsun on-DO features a unique name that reflects its multicultural influences, with DO meaning way in Japanese and on meaning he in Russian. This naming strategy underscores the cars innovative approach to mobility. I believe such unique branding could appeal to Indian consumers looking for something different.
Friday, 04 April 2014 06:20 PM The Datsun on-DO is built at the AVTOVAZ plant in Togliatti, Russia, and is sold through a network of fully branded dealerships supported by Nissan. This robust distribution network could be a model for any future launches in India, should the company decide to bring the on-DO here.
Mileage
Wednesday, 20 November 2024 09:14 PM The Datsun GO offers respectable fuel efficiency, with claimed mileage ranging from 19.02 to 20.63 kmpl, depending on the transmission type. In real-world conditions, users have reported mileage of around 17-20 kmpl, which is commendable for a car in its segment. This makes the GO a viable choice for those concerned about running costs, especially for daily city commutes and occasional highway trips.

Ya the Russian launch looks stunning !! The compact sedan trend is not going to work too long in India. Its a kind of slow cheating. People will understand the difference in short period of time.

Now in India its less than 10 rupees difference between petrol & diesel. Its better to go for petrol always. Bcoz if we calculate the maintenance for the first year its almost the same. But the point is they have think seriously about the replacement of the handbrake. These type of handbrakes are seen in pick-ups. Its really strange why Nissan gave it for Datsun's small car. The Russia launch of Datsun on-do looks superb !!!!!
