USER OPINION

Our take on this /// Verdict
The Chevrolet Beat PS (Diesel) 2013 is a solid choice for those seeking a budget-friendly, fuel-efficient diesel hatchback. From my perspective, this car excels in city driving, offering a smooth and comfortable ride, thanks to its responsive power steering and well-tuned suspension. The 936cc TCDi engine, although not the most powerful, provides adequate power, especially above 1900 rpm, making it suitable for both city and highway driving. However, there are some drawbacks, such as the low end torque, bouncy rear suspension, and limited boot space. Despite these, the cars unique design, comfortable seating for four adults, and good paint quality make it a reliable and stylish option. Overall, its a good car to own, especially considering its price point and fuel efficiency.
Price
When the Chevrolet Beat PS (Diesel) 2013 was available in the market, its ex-showroom price started at around Rs. 4.78 lakh. On-road prices varied depending on the location, but typically ranged from Rs. 5.5 lakh to Rs. 6.2 lakh, including taxes, registration, and insurance. Given its features and performance, the price was competitive, especially when compared to other diesel hatchbacks like the Ford Figo and Toyota Liva. However, with Chevrolet discontinuing its operations in India, the current market value would be significantly lower if you are considering a used model. As of now, the on-road price for a used 2013 model could be in the range of Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh, depending on the condition and mileage of the vehicle.

This move was aimed at enhancing the vehicles appeal in the competitive Indian market. I think these updates were a good step to keep the Beat relevant.
Friday, 12 July 2013 04:45 PM In 2013, Chevrolet introduced minor updates to the Beat, which included interior changes such as a driver-side seat height adjust and additional silver accents on the dashboard. Friday, 12 July 2013 06:10 AM Chevrolet offered several incentives for the Beat in 2013, including free insurance worth up to Rs 15,000 and a loyalty bonus of Rs 10,000 for existing Chevrolet owners. This was part of their strategy to boost sales and attract more customers.
Friday, 12 July 2013 01:19 PM Despite its updates, the exterior design of the Chevrolet Beat remained largely unchanged in 2013, which might have been a missed opportunity to refresh the look and attract more buyers. However, the interior updates were well-received.
Friday, 12 July 2013 04:32 PM The Chevrolet Beat Diesel was available in several variants, including the LS and LT models, each with different feature sets and price points. This variety helped cater to a broader range of customers in the Indian market.
Saturday, 13 July 2013 12:45 AM General Motors did not make significant exterior design changes to the Chevrolet Beat in the 2013 updates, but the addition of new color options and minor interior tweaks helped keep the vehicle competitive. I think more exterior changes would have been beneficial.
Thursday, 14 July 2011 07:54 PM The service intervals for the Chevrolet Beat Diesel were adjusted in 2011 from 10,000 km or 15,000 km to 7,500 km, reflecting a more frequent maintenance schedule to ensure the longevity of the engine. This change was likely to improve the overall reliability of the vehicle.
Thursday, 14 July 2011 10:14 AM The Chevrolet Beat Diesel was known for its fuel efficiency, which was a key selling point in the Indian market where fuel costs are a significant concern for many buyers. The vehicles diesel engine was optimized for better mileage.
Sunday, 24 January 2010 12:39 PM The Chevrolet Beat Diesel was praised for its performance and fuel efficiency in various reviews. It was noted for its smooth engine and decent power output, making it a viable option for daily commuting in Indian cities. I believe the diesel engine was a strong point for the Beat.
Sunday, 24 January 2010 09:55 PM The Chevrolet Beat Diesel faced some issues, such as the vehicle tending to switch off easily when in reverse gear and slowly releasing the clutch pedal. This was a common complaint among owners, who sought advice on forums to resolve the issue.

Perfect car for me within my budget

It was a great experience owning the Chevrolet Beat for the past few years. It was the perfect car for me within my budget, as it provided great mileage and had a great 60:40 split option which gave me a lot of flexibility even in the lower models. I also had a 5-year extended warranty which gave me peace of mind in terms of expenses. Unfortunately, General Motors has decided to close the production of the Chevrolet Beat, and while we don't know the reason behind their decision, it is undoubtedly a sad day for the Beat family.

Offers a smooth ride with good space

After having driven over 1 lakh kilometers in my Chevrolet Beat, I can safely say that it offers a smooth ride with good space and can comfortably seat 5 people. The mileage provided is also quite decent at 20 km/l in city with A/C and 25 km/l on the highway. The engine is a 1000 cc, which is quite powerful.

The only downside I have experienced is the cost of servicing, which can be quite expensive. The resale value of the car is also not very good. With Chevrolet shutting down their operations in India, it has become difficult to find spare parts.

Ride was excellent and the braking was top notch

The buying experience of the LT petrol 2010 model was great. The car was in good condition and was priced at Rs. 2.50 lakh. The ride was excellent and the braking was top notch. The wheel radius was very good, allowing the car to turn in tight corners with ease. The car looks like a sports car with its sharp and curvy body.

The service and parts are low cost and available to everyone. The pros of the car include the AC modes and temperature control, while the cons include suspension and tail light problems during the rainy season, as well as water entering the lamps due to poor quality of fixing.

Exceeded my expectations

I have been driving my Chevrolet Beat since August 2017, and I must say that this car has exceeded my expectations. The car is quite stylish and has an eye-catching look. The exterior design is absolutely stunning, and I find myself staring at this car every time I take it out for a spin.

Comfort-wise, I am 5'10" and I sometimes experience a few niggles during long rides due to its low leg room. The drive is very smooth, but the boot space is quite limited - a long road trip with four people and their baggage is not possible with this car. The music system and speakers are good, but I did have an issue with the speakers as one of the layers was torn off.

Thankfully, I managed to get it repaired. The air conditioning performance is very good. Performance-wise, I haven't had any major issues so far. The coolant piping system was replaced by the previous owner, and I am now planning to replace the clutch plates due to a back gear issue. The mileage I'm getting is 17 kmpl on highways and 15 kmpl in cities with the air conditioning on. I always drive with the mirrors closed. As far as service and maintenance is concerned, due to the fact that Chevrolet has discontinued the production of this car, I am limited to a single service center in and around Hyderabad. This can be quite expensive, costing up to Rs. 6-8000 for a general service.

The buying experience of the Chevrolet Beat was super easy and the car was delivered to me in no time. Learning to drive was a breeze, thanks to its comfortable driving seat and well-gripped steering wheel. Its powerful engine made the car feel reliable and its impressive interior was a bonus. Moreover, it has all the essential functions that one can expect from a car in this budget.
