Honda is developing a new 4-cylinder 400cc motorcycle, set to replace the CB400 Super Four that ended production in 2022. The new model will come in both a full cowl and a naked version, with the naked version expected to inherit the design of the CB400 Super Four. It will feature a completely new engine design to meet modern environmental standards and is speculated to have an electronically controlled E-clutch system. I think this new design will be a great step forward in balancing performance and environmental compliance.

Honda has ceased production of the CB400 Super Four due to Japans Reiwa 2 emissions regulations. The final models, the 2022 Honda CB400 Super Four and Super Bol d’Or Final Editions, were released with special color schemes and no mechanical changes. These models were popular in Japan but will no longer be available after 2022. I believe this marks the end of an era for a beloved bike, but its necessary for meeting stricter emissions standards.

The 2022 Honda CB400 Super Four and Super Bol d’Or Final Editions were launched with three color options: Candy Atmospheric Red, Darkness Black Metallic, and Atmosphere Blue Metallic. These models retained the same 399cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine producing 56PS and 39Nm of torque. The Super Bol d’Or version included a half-cowl with a small, lockable storage cubby. I think these final editions are a fitting tribute to the CB400s legacy.

In 2014, Honda updated the CB400SF with several improvements, including a revised display with a gear position indicator, heated grips, LED lighting, and revised frame geometry for a more comfortable riding position. ABS became standard on all models by 2017. These updates kept the bike relevant and safe while maintaining its performance. I believe these changes enhanced the overall riding experience significantly.

The Honda CB400SF Hyper VTEC Revo features a 399cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine with a VTEC system that triggers at 6300 rpm in gears 1-5 and at 6750 rpm in 6th gear. It also includes combined ABS and throttle position detection. The bike is known for its unique sound and performance, making it a favorite among Honda fans. I think the VTEC system is a key factor in its popularity and performance.
