The BSA Gold Star 650 has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 2.99 lakh, offering a retro-themed roadster with a 652cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 45bhp and 55Nm of torque. The bike is available in five different colors and competes directly with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. I think the pricing is competitive, but the real test will be in its performance and reliability on Indian roads.

The new BSA Gold Star 650 features a design that retains the essence of its predecessor, with elements like twin-pod instruments, a chrome-finished fuel tank, and a beautifully crafted exhaust pipe. The bike also boasts a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers with adjustable preload. I believe the attention to detail in the design is impressive, but it needs to translate into a smooth riding experience.

BSA has introduced a promotional offer for the Gold Star 650, providing up to Rs 1,500 off the MSRP and a 2+2 year extended warranty, excluding the Shadow Black variant. This move is aimed at attracting more buyers and providing additional peace of mind. I think this is a smart strategy to boost sales and build customer trust.

The BSA Gold Star 650 is powered by a Rotax-derived engine, similar to the one used in the BMW F650 Funduro, and it delivers a unique riding experience with its mid-range acceleration and guttural exhaust note. However, the bike has some issues like irregular power delivery at constant speeds and a soft rear suspension setup. I believe these are areas that BSA needs to address to make the Gold Star 650 a more polished product.

The BSA Gold Star 650 has been built in India and is part of Classic Legends efforts to revive the BSA brand. The bikes specifications include a 12-liter fuel tank, 780mm saddle height, and ABS-equipped Brembo brakes. I think the combination of retro design and modern technology makes it an interesting option in the market, but the dealer and service network will be crucial for its success.
