Honda 2-wheelers Inaugurates 3rd Plant in India

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI), the Indian subsidiary of world's leading 2-wheelers manufacturer Honda Motor Company has inaugurated its newest plant in India. The 3rd one from the company the new plant has came up over an area of 96 acres and is situated in Karnataka, at Narsapura area in the Kolar district. HMSI has made a total investment of INR 1,350 crore in the plant. The state-of-the-art plant is equipped with much advanced machining automation, robotic welding, painting of frame parts and a high speed transfer line.

The new plant will start operations from June 2013 with initial capacity of 12 lakh units in Phase 1. In Phase 2, additional 600,000 units will be added to take the overall capacity of the plant to 18 lakh by the end of 2013-14. The company claims that the Karnataka plant is Honda’s most environment friendly and proactively reduces energy consumption during the production.
