Yamaha R15 Version 1.0 Officially Re-launched as ‘R15-S’ in Nepal

Yamaha YZF R15-S is no more a rumour now. Yes, Yamaha has cleared all the doubts by launching this motorcycle in Nepal today. It has been offered there at INR 3.34 Lakh (INR 2.09 Lakh). Notably, earlier this month, few leaked images of YZF R-15 was seen over the internet with the name Yamaha YZF-R15S which create a buzz that it will soon launch in India with this name. Now, its Nepal launch has confirmed that Yamaha YZF R15-S is not a hoax.

Mechanically, it comes powered by a 149.8cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke SOHC, 4-valve, single cylinder engine that produces 17PS of maximum power @ 8500 rpm and 15Nm of torque at 7500 rpm. It will support electric start feature and electronic fuel injection system. The engine is mated to constant mesh 6-speed transmission. The company has loaded a 12-litres fuel tank on this motorcycle. The overall length, width, height of this bike is 1995mm, 670mm and 1070mm. It has a ground clearance of 160mm.

The exterior of the bike is a blend of YZF R15 and Version 2.0. It packs a R15 like fairing and body panel while some components like exhaust, brakes, suspension have been borrowed from Version 2.0. Apart from that, it gets a single connected seat and company has also worked on Pillion seat to provide more comfort to the pillion passenger. As the high pillion seat is bit impractical. The bike rides on 90/80-17 front and 130/70-R17 rear tire with a stopping power provided by hydraulic single disc brakes at both end.

The Yamaha R15-S is priced at 3,34,900 NPR (ex-showroom, Kathmandu price). So, if we convert it roughly in Indian Rupee, it will be 2.09 Lakh. But in India it is expected to be launched with a price tag of Rs. 1.11 lakhs (expected ex-showroom price).
