Technical Specifications

The upcoming compact SUV will be built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, similar to the Skoda Kushaq. However, it will have a shorter wheelbase of 2,566mm, which is 85mm less than the Kushaq's. The vehicle will also feature smaller wheels compared to the 16- and 17-inch alloys found on the Kushaq.

Under the hood, Skoda has confirmed that the compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that delivers 115hp and 178Nm of torque. This engine will be paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter.

Rivals and Expected Pricing

Upon launch, the Skoda compact SUV will compete against popular models like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, and Maruti Brezza. While some of its rivals offer diesel options and factory-fitted CNG kits, the Skoda compact SUV will initially be available only with a petrol engine.

Pricing will be an important factor for the success of this SUV. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 9 lakh to Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom), making it competitive with its rivals in the segment.

Launch and Market Expectations

Skoda has announced that the compact SUV will go on sale in March 2025. Besides catering to the Indian market, the SUV is also expected to be exported to regions like South America, South-East Asia, and Africa, among others. With its entry into the sub-4-metre SUV segment, Skoda aims to capture a significant share of this rapidly growing market.
